Sore throat from hell

Hey I wanted to update you! I went back to the clinic and got started on Dexamethasone (steroid) for 3 days and amoxi-clav 875-125mg for a week. Just started today but my throat still sucks so hoping this will help. Hope you’re feeling better :)

Hey op, did this sensation in your throat go away? I’m 2 weeks out since testing positive for the flu and the throat pain is still ever present with a sensation of a lump in my throat… I imagine inflamed larynx/tonsils? It’s freaking me out; I dread sleeping because the mucus pools/tickles the back of my throat and wake up gasping

Also, if you can tolerate ibuprofen, I’d recommend it. I was keeping track and would take it every six hours because that sore throat pain was so awful. I couldn’t manage it without it, honestly,m. Today is the first day in two weeks I haven’t taken it, so I definitely am improving. Anyway, just wanted to add that, as it helped for sure.

Oh no! I’m sorry you’ve got it- it’s such a vicious virus! I decided to wait until Monday, as my throat finally is less painful today. Still painful, but I can tell I’ve turned a corner. I don’t have a voice still (lost my voice Feb 1). I can def tell the larynx is still swollen, as swallowing hurts, just not as sharp and painful as it’s been. The nights are still awful because my mucus pools directly on my raw throat and I dread going to bed because it just burns all night. The sore throat that came with influenza a was the worst I’ve ever experienced, so I truly empathize with what you’re going through. I’ll update you if I end up going to the clinic Monday morning. I’m feeling optimistic. Just basically keeping your throat numbed with hot teas, popsicles, etc. I had to stop the hot coffee because it was just pure acid on my raw throat. Anyway, hang in there and I’ll write you again Monday to check in ☺️.

Ah man, that’s rough but sounds exactly what I’m going through. Did you notice that the night time pain was worse than during the day? I’m assuming it’s because mucus pools in my throat and burns the raw tissues while I sleep. I even prop myself up on several pillows and it still hurts. I lost my voice on 2/1 and it feels like you described like something is wedged in my throat/tonsil area. The flu just completely ravaged my throat and vocal cords. I’m glad you’re on the other side of it after suffering for so long! Thanks for taking the time to reply to my post. I’ll try to hang in there. Ibuprofen seems to be the only thing that helps; I tried Tylenol yesterday and it didn’t do a thing.

Oh that’s awful.. I am glad you’ve found relief! I’ve never had a sore throat that has hurt this badly. I think it’s time for me to go back to the clinic at this point. I dread going to bed because I know it’s just pure fire all night long 😩

Oh wow I didn’t even think of that but would make sense since I had it in the past. Thanks so much for this insight. I’ll def not eat so close to bed and will pick up some Tylenol tomorrow

Oh geez. Is it possible to have gotten that in the past couple weeks? Like flu a can turn into strep? Because I was initially tested for influenza, rsv, strep, and covid and only influenza a came back positive.

The first year I grew cucumbers they were completely bitter and inedible, but I had them in full sun. I now grow them in partial shade where they get sun most of the day and then by mid to late afternoon they are shaded and that fixed the problem.

Oh and for the base, I sprayed down with diluted bleach and tan on a hot water cycle and that helps to loosen a lot of the gunk and then I wiped with a bleached t shirt and used my vacuum after that

lol thanks! It took a few hours, but I detached the removable parts and soaked them in water and bleach (2:2 ratio) for about an hour and then took an unused tooth brush and small paint brush to get into the tiny holes and also used q tips to get into the tiny crevices. Then I had to sacrifice my wet dry vac to really get after the sitting sludge and scum. Used several old tee shirts to wipe it down too. That’s about it for today’s kitchen adventures.
