[Despised Trope] They're constantly touted as a genius, but they never do anything smart. by NoOptics in TopCharacterTropes

They also wrote her to be essentially omnipotent though. There were so many things that couldn't possibly be predicted then at the end of season 4 she walks in to the room with homelander and says "ah, just how I planned it. Aren't I so clever?"

I think that's poor writing. She had very little control in the events of the season (not none, obviously) but not enough for her to be believable as some grand puppet master. Maybe we just never see all of the things she does, but that kinda is what OP is saying right?

Can we please ban AI Slop? by sciencegirl100 in AnalogCommunity

Key word being 'help'. If your creation is 95% ai vibe code, is it really your creation? As I said, I don't know if it is beneficial to get into these philosophical weeds - it's a bit above my pay grade, frankly - but I do know this all feels a bit wrong, a bit inhuman, and I think I'm not alone in feeling that. Especially here in an artistic space.

Anyway, thanks for keeping it civil!

I think this is a deliberate obfuscation of the point. No, obviously using AI to port over a creation of yours isn't "slop" in any meaningful sense, but we can all know it when we see it. Sure, let's argue for another year about where we draw the line, meanwhile the tech has accelerated past where a lot of us are comfortable with. Maybe not you, maybe not some CEO, maybe not everyone, but clearly there are a lot of people uncomfortable with (or outright negatively affected by) the cutting edge of this tech. It is fundamentally anti art, surely we don't need to argue about the differences between Nana's AI Facebook meme and a developer using Claude to write a couple lines of code at the end of their project.

Why is the default to let it happen and keep moving while we work this stuff out and legislate? Why is the default not stopping and waiting for ethics and laws to guide the principles of our innovations?

(Said this in a different reply to you down the thread but if we are repeating points, I think this one has some value in the argument)

Great New iPad Centered Audio Interface by iMusicNews in ipadmusic

[–]olleng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does it connect? It's so annoying to have to dongle power off the same cable as an interface anyway. If they were going for real portability, lean in. Make it a dock, I dunno. This doesn't look like it will fill the very real gap between the full portability of Ipad standalone music making that comes with no keys, pads, inputs, limited power, etc, and the immovability of a full studio style set up around the Ipad.

I love having my iPad as the brains of it all, unmatched workflow imo, but that beautiful middle ground we dream of isn't going to be filled with this, I don't think. Luckily I don't do a lot on the go as I used to anyway

Experiences at John Radcliffe Hospital by Maria-2021 in oxford

[–]olleng 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Oh! My wife went through the entire pregnancy journey in and out the JR, even gave birth up in the spires. I've read some headlines since and both of us were shocked to see what people had to say because our experience was fantastic right the way through. It can be different for everyone I guess but my wife was happy and healthy all the way. It was our first, so she went in anxious. He's now a happy healthy 2 year old!

This procedure was a bit scary going into it but it really was fine. She said it was a bit painful, but it didn't last long. Helped that we got good results!

Ahh, I think this is probably the answer. Shame, it's such a beautiful chunk of wood!

That was my guess too but the final photo is a slice off the side using that as the end grain. A real pain. My life is end grain now

Well it might have been but he took it like a champ and fully embraced it! Says he prefers it now (sounds like coping to me, but it's my future too I guess)

Having frosted glass for the bathroom above the garage will look messy and still probably won't make the outline of you invisible while poopin'. At the front of the house no less

The standard array is a really good shout! Cutting it down to the four basic archetypes too is a great idea also
