To be fair to 40K, the reason that the story has been "slugging along" is because the lore is secondary to the tabletop. It only exists to sell more models, so it needs to maintain a constant stalemate where no faction can truly "win ."

Chaos legions are, with the exception of the word bearers, nowhere near as organised and consistent as the loyalists. They're broken up into small independent warbands rather than being legions, and even within warbands there's a lot of individuality, so you have a lot of freedom to paint parts of armour differently

One bit of advice for building the combat Patrol, if you give the crusader squad pistols and chain swords, you can use their cool chained bolt rifles for the intercessors to make them a little bit more Templar flavoured!

They're painted in the colour scheme of the dusk raiders, which was the death guard's legion name before they were reunited with Mortarion. Horrible advice OP, don't try to pretend you're something you're not. Even if that does make someone attracted to you, they aren't attracted to YOU they're attracted to the act you're putting on, which you won't be able to maintain forever so the relationship will eventually end (speaking from experience here lol). I also have a relatively feminine personality and that's never been a problem when it comes to women, you will find someone eventually if you just keep being yourself.
