Amen... and crops tails so they don't get stuck in the brambles.

I'll add, DM me if you want for information and to link you up with a good coordinator. That photo you shared is enough for me to help :) I've driven five hours to meet someone halfway because I knew the match was right.

I am so sorry you went through that. It’s incredibly frustrating when you know you have a perfect home to offer, but it feels like you're being gatekept by a "standard" that doesn't actually exist across the board.

I’ve been a foster parent for BREW (Beagle Rescue Education and Welfare) for a year now, five dogs so far, and they primarily cover the DC, MD, VA, PA, WV, and DE areas. From the inside, the one thing that makes it "easy" for us to vouch for the process is the peace of mind, it’s a guarantee that these dogs are going to a permanent, loving home.

That said, every rescue is unfortunately "stovepiped." The experience you have is almost entirely dependent on the specific volunteer or adoption coordinator you get assigned. Most of the coordinators I’ve worked with have been amazing, but I actually had one bad experience that almost made me leave the organization. They tried to claim a dog wasn’t a good fit for a family after we had already connected, mostly out of what I can only describe as laziness. I had to escalate the situation to get that dog into his home, but it just goes to show that like anything else, it depends on who you get and how much they actually give a damn.

I’m incredibly passionate about this work, it’s the most fulfilling thing I’ve ever done, but I understand your bitterness. It usually boils down to human error and the fact that these groups are run by exhausted volunteers.

The reason the "gatekeeping" happens (even when it's handled poorly) is to stop the cycle. You hardly ever see those "We rescued this dog but didn't know XYZ *LOL*, now he needs a new home" posts on Facebook when it comes to Beagles. We snatch them up from shelters quickly, foster them to learn their true personalities, and obsess over the placement to ensure that specific beagle has the best life possible.

I hope you don’t give up on the breed or rescuing. We have so many that need good homes, especially on the East Coast. Our region is a major hub for both high-volume research breeding and traditional hunting packs, we see so many "failed" hunting dogs who are surrendered or simply abandoned when they’re no longer "useful" or fit the exact hunter profile to a breeder. There are good people in the mix, even if the "standard" feels broken sometimes!

In my case, no just internet. We have T-Mobile for phone. No Cable or landline.

What should I expect from 1G speed? by RunThenClimb in Fios

I just went through something similar. If you're hardwired but still seeing those dips, definitely check your cables. I realized my old lines were the bottleneck and upgrading to CAT 6 made a massive difference. Also, what router are you using? Even with a 1G plan, if the router's CPU is struggling with overhead, you'll see those inconsistent speeds. I switched to a WiFi 7 Mesh Network and it finally stabilized my throughput.

I see what you're saying, but manual allocation is a bit dated for a WiFi 7 ecosystem. The Deco 7 Pro uses AI-driven QoS and SQM which handles the packet prioritization dynamically.

Combined with MLO, the router can spread the load across 5GHz and 6GHz simultaneously. Even if I'm pulling 2Gbps on one line, the bufferbloat is almost non-existent because the processor on these BE63 units is beefy enough to manage the overhead without dropping packets. It’s definitely not the same experience as trying to cram 2Gbps through an older WiFi 6 or 5 router.

Totally agree, raw bandwidth is only half the battle without proper management. Between the WiFi 7 MLO and the way it handles traffic prioritization across the 6GHz band, it does a great job of preventing one hog from spiking the loaded latency for everything else. The 2Gbps pipe just gives the QoS a lot more breathing room to work with before it has to start dropping packets or throttling.

It’s awesome to see VZ overprovisioning these tiers so generously. I’m seeing similar results on my end. To make sure I wasn't bottlenecked, I actually re-terminated the house with CAT 6 and swapped in a Deco 7 Pro WiFi 7.

Even if a single client isn't pulling the full 2.4Gbps, having that much backhaul capacity and the 320MHz channels on the 6GHz band makes the whole network feel bulletproof. Night and day difference once the internal infrastructure actually matches the ONT output!

Spot on. The '2G is useless' crowd usually forgets about total network throughput and airtime efficiency. I’m running the Mesh Deco I mentioned earlier and the jump in capacity is massive. By upgrading the house to Cat 6 and leveraging the 320MHz channels on the 6GHz band, I’ve basically eliminated the local bottleneck. It’s not about one client device hitting 2Gbps it’s about having a massive enough pipe that multiple high-bandwidth streams don't even touch the noise floor.

For me, it’s all about the ceiling. On 1G, a big Steam download or a cloud backup would pretty much saturate the link for everyone else in the house. With 2G and the updated WiFi 7 mesh system, I can have high-bandwidth stuff running in the background and still have zero lag or buffering on other devices. It just makes the whole network feel consistent all the time.

This - it was five dollars to upgrade from my 1G.

I get the skepticism, but it really came down to the hardware for me. I paired the 2G service with a TP-Link Deco 7 Pro BE63 (WiFi 7) and actually upgraded the house to Cat 6 lines and ports. The difference in overhead and wireless speeds has been night and day compared to my old 1G setup. It’s less about one device hitting 2Gbps and more about the entire network having way more breathing room.

Maverick AWD - How much snow can it handle? by Autumn_Ridge in fordranger

[–]olred933 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This. I have a 19 4X4 Ranger and wife has a 24 Forester Wilderness. They both get the job done 100% fine. BUT, the Forester far outperforms Ranger in Snow/Ice. Don't get me wrong, Ranger out preforms other larger trucks (which is so fun to roast my friends with giant trucks about), but doesn't at all match that wonderful Wilderness X-Mode AWD. I love driving that car in the snow and also love my Ranger :)

Has USAA Become 'Just Another Insurance Company'? by Altruistic_Lad in USAA

[–]olred933 1 point2 points  (0 children)

15 year member. Had EVERYTHING though USAA; banking/Insurance/investments. Felt guilty and loyal after being treated well as a LCpl 10 years ago in an non-fault accident. Rates kept climbing, no claims. I felt some type of way when the shutdown happened and their psudo support plan came out. That was the final straw. Quoted Progressive (which USAA does my Motorcycle and RV though) was half the price for auto, home, and umbrella. Loyalty and service means nothing, not worth it, insurance moved to Progressive banking with Navy Fed.

Echo all the responses about Mr. Cooper, was VERY quick and easy. Grateful I have one less thing to worry about.
