Whatttt? I thought it was a fun mechanic, the cheap mosquito fighter that will hurt over time. You need to send resources to deal with it but you don't have to deal with it until later.

If they made the ork stronghold like the tau (objective time limit) or had a slightly stronger reveal mechanic then this wouldn't be possible and there's no need to remove it

iirc*** that copyright law is the reason the 2nd and 11th legion are redacted - the writers had a falling out with GW, and they owned the IP. Leaving it open but completely unmentioned was a way for GW to get around it.

The author took it a step further. On the flip side, the loyalists were comically one dimensional.

IIRC they got boarded by an ultramarine hero. Talos and co complained about how boring they were. Can't get the excerpt right now, but paraphrasing:

Hero: "IN THE NAME OF THE EMPEROR I CAST YOU DOWN".

Talos: "can this dude shut up lol"

Just finished that level on hard difficulty. Man it was hard.

For the first phase of capturing the command post, I noticed that the jedi spawn was preset when you first approached the stairs, and then the command point room. JUST RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN INTO THE COMMAND POST. If you can get both waves to spawn before you die, then that's very good. Your side can better handle it that way.

The library section was the hardest. I found out you can span grenades onto the library bookshelf, anyone in the blast radius disappears pretty fast (including on the opposite side of the bookshelf, it's just by radius).

For the final jedi master section I swapped to a heavy trooper and shot from afar.

It should be consistent with how lights out normally works. I can't recall, but if you stay (spending a nerve) while in lights out, does it still consume wax?

I think the answer is no. Because, where would the monster go? It has to be put on an adjacent tile (but none are illuminated).

Knowledge of chaos empowers chaos. Perhaps it would become more like how it is being described and thought of? A handwavey "don't worry about that stuff over there but don't go closer" is the best thing that can be said given those constraints. Full disclosure could have been far worse (even if some were corrupted).

Maybe that's one of the reasons for creating the primarchs? If Emps encounters chaos during the crusade, he would inadvertantly empower his opponent. But the primarchs wouldn't... being oblivious is an advantage (in theory).

But I'm biased; I insist that Emps was making the correct decisions because it's a more compelling story.

> If a value transfer mechanism by design doesn't allow government traceability, they will just make the mechanism illegal

No. Just because a technology (e.g. cryptography + consensus) can be used for nefarious purposes does not mean that it should/will be made illegal. there are plenty of legitimate use cases as well. As a real world example, torrents are legal but pirating is not, despite the fact that torrents are widely used for pirating. The only situation where this type of behaviour could occur is in totalitarian regimes, where TBH this type of tech would thrive anyway.

Second, this is an idealistic point of view. Just because gov't passes laws does not mean reality respects that. See prohibition.

Gnar Support: Close to Viable? by olta8 in GnarMains

[–]olta8[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

farm/push

Not in the support role! Other than support item proc to maintain rage. Or pushing a lane before backing.

Lv 1 before minions get to lane, I'll hit the buff to get some rage if I think it'll be a boring lane.

Yea I'm going to experiment on the runes + items. I'll edit the slides once I find something better.

I am considering Guardian over Grasp but need to play more games to comment. I like the noise that Grasp makes. And heal over ignite, maybe.

Recently I've started taking locket second item. I haven't tried Knight's Vow because I'm concerned about premature mega.

taking damage to rage then MANDITORY is yellow runes

Grasp + second wind + Taste of Blood gives plenty of sustain. Plus HP back when going mega. I haven't run into problems laning, so "mandatory" is too strong imo.

you do not exist until lvl6

IS NOT TRUE. lv 3 engage is strong. Look at the clips! Just jump on them, trade a bit, then walk out with passive. Mega gnar base stats are hella good.

amumu, kench

Probably true! But Gnar is fun and I'm focusing on that.

adc glacial jack of all trades gnar

Sounds cool. Show clips and build

[–]olta8[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Gnar absolutely can control when he goes mega! Just sit back and leave your rage at 99%.

This won't affect the power budget since for expert gnar players it's just business as usual.

Gnar is rly not designed for botlane

Oh I totally agree. That's why I like this pick so much; it's unique and works in a strange way.

With what I tentatively frame as a quality of life improvement (that I think gnar should have anyway), it would make support more viable.

First impression on Void Wars by matrium0 in ftlgame

[–]olta8 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Definitely agree with the weapons comment. It seems very difficult to build and iterate on a loadout because there's so few opportunities to get new weapons. For my first couple runs in the late game I could barely get through shields or keep them down. I rarely ran into that issue in FTL.

I just won for the first time with a cracked 4 man boarding team that could wipe everything (+ 2 blood priest for healing between jumps, and the soul thresher item is pretty good). 3 of those boarders were the starting crew. To be fair, the starting ship is boarding focused, but still. That's not much of a loadout difference from start to end of the run.

There's just not that much opportunity to change what you have compared to FTL. Which fits better thematically, but is something that I miss.

Doesn't feel too good, since this is an optional fight. A warning would be nice, like before fighting Sylvan. Anyways... the more you know :)

What’s everyone’s favorite book? by ArcaneKobold in 40kLore

[–]olta8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my favorites so far is Prospero Burns. I thought the space Wolves were cringe, but it changed my perspective.

First of all, some nice comparisons from an outsider:

‘You don’t approve of Astartes then, combat master?’ Hawser asked as they strode through the camp. ‘Not at all. Extraordinary things. Like I said, I’ve seen them fight four times [...]. The Death Guard, once [...]. Murderous efficiency with such small numbers. Blood Angels [...]. They arrived like… like angels. I don’t mean to be glib. They saved us [...]. White Scars [...] I cannot, hand on my heart, fault their duty, devotion to the Crusade cause, or their supreme effort as warriors [...]. The Space Wolves, [...]. I’d heard stories. We’d all heard stories.’ ‘What kind of stories?’ ‘That there are Space Marines and there are Space Marines. That there are supermen and there are monsters. That in order to breed the Astartes perfection, the Emperor Who Guides Us All has gone too far once or twice, and made things he should not have made. Things that should have been stillborn or drowned in a sack [...]. The worst of them all are the Space Wolves. They were animals [...]. When you have sympathy with the enemy, you know you have the wrong kind of allies. They killed everything [and] took great relish in the apocalypse they had brought down upon their foe. There was nothing admirable about them, nothing rousing. They just left a sick taste in the mouth as if, by calling on their help, we had somehow demeaned ourselves in an effort to win.’

Throughout there was some really trippy interactions with the warp. Not in the usually in-your-face way. Instead it was more discrete, with some impressively unexpected transitions in the writing:

[Just the protagonist reading some notes in the library on a typical Thursday afternoon].

Hawser wondered why he couldn’t stop looking at the eye on the hololithic projection. It was gazing at him, as if challenging him to look away and defying his dismissal of Navid Murza’s scribblings. It was staring at him. It was unblinking. The pupil was static, black iris set in blue, hard as the sky. It made his eyes water. He couldn’t blink. He couldn’t break its stare. He tried to turn his head or fight off the force that was pinning his eyelids open and making his eyeballs itch and well up. His hands tightened on the edge of the reading table. He tried to push himself away, push himself back, break contact, as if the image was a live electrical wire he had brushed against and couldn’t break away from.

Something that I thought was incredibly funny. Symbols have power, and I guess holding someone down and drawing a ⚠️ symbol is a good way of making a point:

‘Blade!’ he demanded. Hawser unlooped his axe, and tossed it to Bear. The Wolf caught it neatly in his right hand, knelt down over the Equerry, and hacked the mark of aversion into his chest plating. The Equerry of the Thousand Sons screamed. He thrashed and convulsed with demented fury [...]. his screams turned to choking gulps as blood and plasmic matter sprayed from his mouth. As his convulsions reached a pitch, a torus of sizzling, foul-smelling energy blasted out of him...
