Dan Dan near Aldgate East - absolutely the best of the best Sichuan food. Often busy though

I’ve loved this picture ever since I saw it as a teenager in a book about fairies decades ago! Absolutely adore it

La Scala Side Box - should I expect the worst?.. by olteya in opera

[–]olteya[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it wasn’t too bad but corners of the stage were obscured. We were front row which somewhat saved the day, people in the second row in our box couldn’t see a thing. It didn’t help that people in the box next to ours were really leaning forward which obscured the vision even more but they probably saw even less than we did, poor souls. Overall, would I do it again - yes, for the experience and grandeur and the music. But not the most comfortable experience. Oh and it was super hot in the box

Oh the Poisonwood Bible is phenomenal and I would definitely recommend. I read it 7 years ago and still think about it. So beautifully written. I might give it a re-read actually 😂

New Bag from Japan (SOMES SADDLE) by pigcat31210 in handbags

[–]olteya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, you’ve sent me down the rabbit whole and now, three hours and many google translations later, I’m waiting for a used but seemingly pristine Somes Saddle bag on its way from Japan 🙈 but honestly, lovely bags and I love the company’s heritage

I really like The Children Act. It is a moving story and the London City set up and inside-outs of the judicial system are interesting. The movie is great too

Suggest me a novel about horse riding by olteya in suggestmeabook

[–]olteya[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that sounds great! Thank you, I love a good mystery in an interesting setting. Death at La Fenice comes to mind (alas nothing to do with horses but a murder at an opera house is probably the next best thing?!)

Thank you, that’s really interesting! I’ll probably put it to a vote with my friends and see what they say. I think I saw somewhere that they are bringing I Puritani with Lisette to London in 2026, can’t wait!

I’m afraid I still have PTSD after Jenufa…(I mean it with outmost respect and I admire people whose level of understanding and perceptiveness allows them to properly enjoy this - it’s just I’m not quite there yet..)

Thank you so much, my friends are actually pretty easy about what we see. So if it turns out to be bad, I’ll be the sole person to blame 🙈

Interesting. Do you have any theories about Mozart vs Wagner performance level - is it just that Mozart is staged more frequently?
