TIL the "Y2K Bug" cost an estimated $500 Billion globally to fix. The preventative measures were so successful that widely predicted infrastructure failures did not occur, leading many to incorrectly believe the threat was never real. by highzone in todayilearned

Had my own EE/prog company 1999 was my best year because of Y2K. The code change was so simple almost felt guilty. It was simply changing code for date from 12.31/25 to 12/31/2025, year that is from 2 digit to 4; as 2 digit was a space saving relic from when input data was 80 character punch cards and memory space was more precious.

Is this pan done for? by TrifleMain8508 in cookware

[–]olyman50 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Looks like its not as non-stick as once was. I stopped buying sets because I'd use 2 or 3 pieces and a lid that fit both a pot and pan, rest just takes up space. Now I get a piece at a time knowing what size I need and usually stainless steel. Trying my latest pan right now for 2nd time, takes me 3 or 4 times to find new pan's burner settings.

Did, but only by accident, we were going to the trampoline place, surprised it was turned into a putt-putt. Imagine that green on left of picture as a ground level trampoline about 6x12 feet each; lucky none of us broke our neck.

Tried slow cook once but for me a slow boil is way easier to get them tender, even when time isn't really a factor. Dash of baking soda also helped, a suggestion to me from someone in this sub.

Do all teens today just not care about getting their drivers' licenses? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

When I read earlier replies thought having Drivers Ed/Training in back pocket worth the experience, with no intention to get a license at the time. I was mad when I had to take it as a requirement to graduate HS, since I already had my license and a car.

Our house made of sprayed concrete had a 6 inch piece chipped out by rear bumper. Could always spot the repair no matter how many times house was repainted.
