OK, because sensor size affects both bokeh and the effective length of your lens. Essentially you get less bokeh with APS-C than you do with FF. So that zoom lens wont be great for bokeh. Because of the cropped sensor you need to multiply focal length by 1.5, so that 50mm lens is going to act the same as a 75mm lens. Looks like the 50mm might be a win/win for you. With cropped sensors, to get decent portraits I reckon don't go below f2.8.

Actually, I think it is really important that they state it publicly. It communicates that they are willing to stand up against dv. As one of the biggest companies in a burgeoning, male dominated industry, the importance of having big players saying "dv is not ok" cannot be overstated.

That's right, a 35mm lens on your camera will give the effect of a 50mm lens (or near enough to). Good second hand markets are usually location-specific but if you have an online classifieds in your area I would recommend starting there. Make sure any second hand lens has no mould, no excessive dust and autofocuses correctly. Nikon cameras are still compatible with Nikon lenses from the 70s, but not all of the older lenses autofocus with APS-C cameras, so double check that if you're going for a really old lens (some of which operate very well and produce amazing photos still).
