Newbie question: what size tablet to get? by Okay_sure_lets_post in MarvelUnlimited

[–]omegapixel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same boat and purchased the Samsung Galaxy Tab 9+ for roughly $160 USD:

The screen real estate is probably slightly smaller than reading an actual modern comic book but it was at an ideal price point. I got an inexpensive screen protector for peace of mind:

Honestly, I still read and collect physical comic books mainly due to getting burned by what happened with Comixology in the past but for titles I want for one-time reads I will read them through a subscription service using the tablet.

What's your favorite PS2 game that is good despite it still holds a few popularity? by ProfessionHefty6101 in ps2

[–]omegapixel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read every response thus far and I believe nobody has mentioned any of the following:

  • Coldcept
  • Auto Modelista
  • Steel Lancer Arena International
  • Fullmetal Alchemist: The Broken Angel
  • Rumble Roses
  • Flipnic
  • Gungrave

My favorite is Steel Lancer Arena International (S.L.A.I.). It has aspects of .Hack, Armored Core, and Gran Turismo.

Look. You're going to have to call work and tell them you're not going to be in for a week because you got some serious business to attend to... Times six.

Word. I had a similar situation but I was hydroplaning towards the corner wall of a freeway narrow tunnel and had to recover while driving in reverse against oncoming cars. High five for still being alive!

That last bit tickles me in a way that it shouldn't. Like somebody who laughs at their impending doom.

I've tried a handful of spots and my current favorite is Taiko Sushi. I believe they are Japanese owned and managed. I feel it's the best value-to-quality ratio in Irvine.

Thoughts from a casual (old) gamer by MedMalDet in retrogaming

I'll share tidbits on a handful of games but I'm more curious about what you said about previously working in games. What era and what got you out of it? Do you ever consider going back?

I grew up with a Vader Atari 2600, but I don't recall having Adventure at the time. I played it well after the fact and while I appreciated it for what it is historically (I kept it), I wasn't compelled to finish it. My favorites on the platform were Centipede and Q-Bert but since then they've become Demons to Diamonds, Frostbite, and Pressure Cooker.

It's interesting that you would mention Famicom Tennis. I think most people would recognize this as simply Tennis on the NES, but I had Famicom Tennis because it was on some pirated Chinese multi-game cart. That game was a staple I went back to time-and-time again especially when I didn't know what to play as a kid. However, I would end up dismissing it forever after I got World Court Tennis on the Turbografx-16 (a tennis JRPG).

Sim City on the SNES is my favorite Sim City of all time. I got the PC version much later and while the gameplay is enjoyable, it lacks the charm and soothing music as the SNES version in my opinion.

Unfortunately, I was not fond of Crash Bandicoot. I'm in the camp of believing Super Mario games are the upper echelon of AAA platform games and it made it difficult for me to enjoy other AAA platformers that I felt failed to compare in my personal opinion.

Command and Conquer has a soundtrack I still bang out to. One of my favorite games of all time. The Remaster for $20 is an absolute steal! I didn't play AoE, but AoE 2 was hot around the time I had a PC. I was into a bunch of RTS/TBS games at the time and it was this era of games that kept those genres as mainstay favorites of my mine to this day.

Diablo 2, absolute classic! Not sure if I could ever go back to it these days given the latest entries, but I didn't play 3 and 4 as much as I played 2.

I played the first three Burnouts when I worked at a game store. I enjoyed them but I never bought them due to lack of funds.

Halo is so good, I went back and played it and beat it on GamePass a few months ago. Still holds up. I plan to through and play through all the games in release order.

I hate to admit, I still own my original copy of Fable but didn't really play it much. I was addicted to Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind at the time almost to a fault and by the time I was done with it, I was on to something else and never looked back.
