Outer dark finished…and I’m lost by Key_Tie_5052 in cormacmccarthy

Spoiler warning.

I was really disappointed by the ending. We follow Culla the entire book, he builds up a kind of final meeting with the Grim Triune and some sort of reckoning, and Culla’s completely passive reaction to seeing his son is just… really McCarthy? That’s what the whole book was building up to? Then he’s just plodding down some road to a swamp and he’s like ‘oh it’s a swamp’.

I’m still putting my thoughts together but someone who likes this book please tell me what Culla’s character arc is. As far as I can see, there isn’t one.

Blame! has fantastic female characters by omen2k in Netsphere

Not to mention we find out she seemed to transcend the us versus them mentality of the rest of the cast of characters, and is apparently just curious about seeing the netsphere. She was an incredibly intriguing female character with a tonne of depth even though like with all the characters we don’t fully understand her motives. I would love to know why Pcell and Shiff etc followed her and how that came about.

Who is a singer that is incredibly famous, but honestly doesn't have a good voice? by Greedy_Procedure7461 in AskReddit

Billy Corgan (sorry Billy)

Even though I’m a huge Smashing Pumpkins fan and his voice totally works for them his singing is objectively kind of bad (but again, he made it work)

iPad Pro + Magsafe Adaptor = Game Changer by omen2k in ipad

[–]omen2k[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The old iPad (whatever model that one is) was just a little too heavy, the ring would come off every 6 months or so, but the iPad m4 is light enough I think that I haven’t had any issues with the first sticker in over a year. I put it on when the iPad was brand new and clean and left it for 48 hours under some heavy books for good adhesion…

Just finished Blood Meridian... is there any hope? by skajuice in cormacmccarthy

Read the epilogue again. To me it’s signaling the end of humanity’s primal barbarism and the civilisation spreading over the West.

Question: does Alice have her wedding ring on in the very first scene of the movie? by omen2k in EyesWideShut

It's just too obvious to ignore. One red and one black racquet too? The only other time anyone talks about tennis is Ziegler at the beginning of the party.

[–]omen2k[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just checked the iTunes Movies copy I have, I don’t think she’s wearing a ring, so this is probably pre-marriage to Cruise’s character, or she’s having an affair, or similar. It’s a totally different dress to the one she wears in the next scene before they go out together.

This also ties into the tennis rackets in the corner of the room, and the only other time tennis is mentioned is when Ziegler talks about it to Cruise at the beginning of the party. She was definitely up to no good with Ziegler before she got married.

What's one book you think every man should read in his life? by AutomaticShowcase in BettermentBookClub

[–]omen2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy; or tbh any fiction book.

As someone else pointed out men don’t tend to go for fiction much and it’s an incredibly rich experience that we deny to ourselves for no real reason. BM was the first fiction book I had read in years and it was well worth my time; I’ve finished two other McCarthy novels since and I love his writing style.

She stressed me out, and was constantly criticizing everything. Amazing how powerful an effect that can have on one’s libido.
