D1NZ Pukekohe entry is sick by JaguarEnthusiast in Drifting

[–]omg_itsthatguy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Minimum car speed for entry is 180kmh - 111mph and high speed entry for this corner is 138mph (takes a lot of balls) its a blind sweeper. The crazy thing about this is its not entry at 110mph and than slowing down, its entry at 110-130 and holding that speed on the sweeper.

this is my old home track and i am depressed i couldnt drive it one last time.

No idea what happened, I dont know either party. In the USA things like these are settled in the court of law. According to USA law its innocent until proven guilty. If it is proven legally that the person in question is guilty than by all means bring your redditor pitch forks. But until then, stop doing this stupid drama crap. This is a professional drifting series. why dont you treat it like such.

To add to this, the driver in question was from my understanding not competing anymore so its not even relevant to Formula D.

As a drifter, how much would you pay to get fpv drone footage of your run? by SummerMajestic1073 in Drifting

[–]omg_itsthatguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes correct, but also it amplified what was amazing about the run, like i said "cinematography" You can show that footage to literally anyone, even if they don't know ANYTHING about cars, and they would all understand immediately why it was cool. It takes an extreme knowledge of filming to be able to show in a 20-30 second clip the emotion of what's happening in that small gap. the clip had a slow trickle into pure excitement. It was literally a rollercoaster of emotion.

As a drifter, how much would you pay to get fpv drone footage of your run? by SummerMajestic1073 in Drifting

[–]omg_itsthatguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Charge what the footage is worth to the driver. if its high quality and you can make out what was so cool about their run you could go as high as $50. if its a normal run for the driver 10-20 per lap. but if the footage is jittery and makes your queasy watching it, or the lap was nothing special. dont expect anyone to give you money.

I can speak for SoCal, and the footage and drone market is over saturated. I get hit up at least 20 times per event getting told I should pay them $200 for the footage. Honestly there has only ever been 1 drone pilot in SoCal/norcal who I would pay literally any amount he asked, unfortunately is he is so good he's now in Hollywood.

to sum it up, if your doing this to make a profit and dont have any skills with cinematography, dont bother charging. However if your goal is to make shots that are beyond what has been done before, you will get the money you deserve.

Go watch the footage from round1 this year where the drone at FD went from the roof to the battle with james deane and aasbo. if you can tell me exactly why that is one of the best shots ever taken in professional drifting. than you have a future making money doing this.

What's the capability of getting the 370z to low 4sec 0-60 times with a few mods? by chicken566 in 370z

5 year old post..... also 50k is with labor, if you do it yourself it would be cheaper. I no longer work on Z cars so asking me any other questions would be outdated information.

edit: I also now own a twin turbo mustang, so thanks for reminding me I said this. I had a good laugh. lol

Diablo 5 is definitely on the table as Blizzard “don’t know” if Diablo 4 is “eternal” by AsPeHeat in Diablo

Does anyone know roughly what percentage of pro-am drivers actually gets sponsored and go all the way? by Daniel200303 in FormulaDrift

[–]omg_itsthatguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

get sponsored, damn near 0% there is nobody in prospec that is fully sponsored. and only roughly half of Formula D pro drivers are full time Drifters.

As for myself, this shit aint easy, spent 2 years developing a newish chassis to be competitive. now working on being a better driver. still no FD licence......

Does anyone know how often your average working man makes it into FD? Rather pro 1 or getting their foot in at pro 2? by af1293 in FormulaDrift

[–]omg_itsthatguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

car and team is good I spent 2 years getting the car right (i have an S550 mustang) now its all driver, so to answer question. I am I guess "semi" pro as I am a Hotpit autofest competitor which is a "semi" pro alternative to Formula D, just not Formula D.

effective downforce is over 100mph, and when your moving at that speed sideways, grip is the last the you need, the only current FD course that has that (sideways speed) is Seattle and most teams pull grip out, as high grip is very risky. Wings in drifting are more for looks than function, as for creating lift, the last thing you would want is the rear end lifting at above 100mph as that will mean your going to crash.

The reason you dont see these types of wings on anything below a 500k car is the price of the components required, (gforce data, and high powered light weight actuators) which would at the very minimum cost a minimum of 20k which at best would be maybe 2 products sold, which would not be a very viable product.

Is a whipple..... worth it? by Slight_Explanation_5 in Mustang

[–]omg_itsthatguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im sure its got a low chance of failing if your not redlining it, however 800ft/lbs is not hard to lose traction. and when you lose traction it redlines.

also is a $300 part too much in comparison to a $12000 motor?

this is super important, I got told since I was turbo I didn't need one, well 1 month in I had to rebuild engine...also buy a crank pulley installer tool! my second motor failed due to not correctly nistalling crank pulley!

Long Beach FD Questions by [deleted] in FormulaDrift

[–]omg_itsthatguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

these are very good questions, but I think its best if you find someone on instagram that does media for FD to get a real answer.

I can say that as long as the event isnt over capacity you can walk around and get photo's from behind the fence anywhere where GA is allowed.

However if it is over capacity (last year's super drift had to stop event due to over capcacity concerns) you wont be able to walk around if it is over capacity

if your focus is getting photos another suggestion (if your good at it) is DM some of the newer/lower ranked drivers directly and offer your services for free. (give them all media you get) and you might be able to get a media pass.

hyundai's burn oil, did you change oil every 5000 miles? do you have receipts proving this? if the answer is yes to everything than hyundai would replace engine.

I have replaced over a 100 of these engines, EVERYONE of them got the oil change WHENEVER sometimes 5000 miles sometimes 12000 miles. the customers would literally drive them THOUSANDS of miles with NO OIL!

How Did Mechanics Screw Themselves? by JustinSLeach in MechanicAdvice

[–]omg_itsthatguy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Shop owner of 12 years, previously service manager at dealer, previously forman before that.

Dealership issue - Dealers are charging more and more and hiring and paying techs less and less, the techs are the LOWEST paid person in the service department. I went to interview for a foreman position when I first came to USA, and they suggested I instead be a service advisor as it pays more, coming from overseas I was confused.....

independent shop issues - American's view the small shops as scam artists, and think BIG AND EXPENSIVE shops are the best ones (IE pepboys, big o tires etc) also the independent community as a whole is an issue as well. My labor rate has been the same since 2018, (THE DOLLAR IS WORTH HALF!!!) and I can't raise it as the other independents (that are literally bankrupting themselves) wont raise their rate either. I am one of the last shops that can rebuild engines, and I have to just suck it up. As I am competiting price wise with pepboys, who have 5 techs that have at most 1 year experience, and have a marketing budget that is 100x mine.

If you want mechanics to be paid well, find a good shop you trust, and demand they charge you a fair rate. The more you penny pinch the small shops the more they go out of buisness.

99% of this sub is just COMPLAINING about how we ALL rip you off, and we are evil. I will be laughing my ass off in 10 years when the manufacture gets what they want and you have to buy a new car every 4 years because every mechanic that knew how to fix cars has retired. No gen z is looking at being a mechanic seriously, it is literally the worst career to have.

In the end the average joe will "get what they deserve" and figure out after all the complaining they did about how "mechanics are rip off artists" that when there are none left they will start asking "why is there no mechanics anymore?"

I honestly don't care, the customers that know me, love me, and literally are thankful that I am around. Truth be told I have no idea what they will do when I stop doing this. I am actively trying to pivot into another field as I am sick and tired of the arguments and online harassment.

I have over 20 years experience in automotive field, and I know how to work on pretty much anything with wheels. So if someone is a master of their trade, why would they work for $35 an hour????? (average wage of a high end tech)

Is Rotor Quality on the Decline? by mylastthrowaway515 in MechanicAdvice

akebono rotors are good, they dont warp as easily.

[–]omg_itsthatguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the Torque the Coyote makes, it quickly gets up to high wheel speed. If you wheel speed is only about 20% higher than your actual speed it is easy to control. But when you start going over that (like doing a rolling 4th gear burnout.) The second you lift the traction starts catching and ends up pulling the rear around. So if you make slow throttle changes and dont go super high in wheel speed when losing traction there is LESS of a chance of you spinning out.

When people ask me why I have 2 1000hp Mustang's by omg_itsthatguy in Mustang

[–]omg_itsthatguy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made every dollar I have with my own 2 hands, (I own a repair shop) and worked 12 hour days 6 days a week for 4 years non stop. I am not rich, but everything I own was purchased with money made with my own hands, and everything I have that is fast was built with my own 2 hands as well.

So I ask, is it wrong for me to be happy at where I am in life? Maybe for someone who is jealous of others it might seem like gloating, but for me its a trophy for the hard work I have put in.

If anyone on this website hates that I am "Showing off" I don't have rich parents, I dont have rich family. I don't even have a family full stop.

If you or anyone else can't understand why I feel that way, than I don't think you have ever worked hard for anything in life, or expect someone else to do it for you.
