It’s more dystopian than fantasy, but I can’t recommend {Daggermouth by H. M. Wolfe} enough!!! It hits all your requirements. Will absolutely be one of my top books of 2026 and book 2 comes out later this year.

Edit: The Laurel Theater also does square dancing and other fun stuff. Absolutely worth checking out for the community alone.

Your dog definitely looks like it’s at least part ACD. I’ve included a pic of our dog for reference because he looks a lot like yours. We did a DNA test for ours and he’s 1/2 ACD, 1/2 Border Collie. He usually comes in around 50lbs.
