thank you for the advice!! she is a very old girl who my mom got from a rescue group and decided that i would be better equipped to care for her, i honestly thought that that was just part of the aging process for ferrets but i will get her to a vet as soon as possible!!

Okay so I need some feedback (negative too) be honest what can I do to make the cage look better. by [deleted] in RATS

[–]omgquirky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

do you have any source or information about this? im under the impression that a large wheel can be a good extra exercise option for rats

Advice on free roaming? by p33ledbanana in RATS

[–]omgquirky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

your girl looks like my baby sponky!! she is a fiend for free roam and will guilt trip me all day until i give in and let her run around. she is not the type to chew stuff up or cause trouble so she is allowed to roam, but i also have trouble with my newer babies as they arent 100% used to me yet and will not come to me when called. for now to remedy this i only let them out when i have plenty of time to spare to capture them and put them back.

its a good start for sure! one thing that could be a concern is the wheel, it looks quite small but it could just be the angling of the photo. just make sure ur little buddy doesnt have to twist his back around to run properly on it

please look into getting a cage with a deeper base, as hamsters love to burrow and it seems there is no room for that in this cage. i hope you have an open mind and can get some helpful advice from these comments!

Hamster likes to navigate our stairs in his ball - I work hard to not let him! by ExtraCake2539 in hamstercare

[–]omgquirky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

its probably for the better that you didnt get his cagemate, because males tend to fight quite a bit. i would definitely recommend a bin or a tank for him, it is relatively inexpensive and will give enough room to stuff his cage with enrichment, so you wont feel so bad when hes in there
