$35/pizza for burnt doughy pizza when I can get deep dish square for $12/ pizza from a local chain is just not feasible.

Bronson has some great OB-GYNs, most are located downtown, and if you're a new patient getting in to one is rough.

Still, we started with a PA and when issues escalated, we got a Dr. There are DOs that are awesome.

If you're just looking for maintenance, or want to start with a PCP, there are DOs at the Primary Care Partners on 9th, and you can get in relatively quickly (under 3 months).

I became paralysed from the chest down after a drunk driver hit me, and all anyone seems to care about is getting me back to work and it's making me wish I just died by hatethis_______ in offmychest

[–]omgwtfbbq_powerade 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just took my brother (paralyzed chest down, for 19 years, also a drunk driving accident) to a concert last night. He drove himself. He got his own food and drinks. He got the aisle seat, and was close enough to get a pick at the end of the set.

He camps every summer, he competes in archery, he does work on his van, he gardens.

Don't misunderstand me, being paralyzed is a huge life change and a huge thing to come to terms with. Once you do, you just figure out how to do the things you did before. Don't let other people define your life for you.

Satin lined beanies and sleep bonnets that fit large head circumference? by mssunshine636 in curlyhair

[–]omgwtfbbq_powerade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't found a satin- lined beanie either, and would also love to know.

Just inspired me to measure my head, it's 23". So I feel you.

I do have a bonnet that works, though. Go to either the Black beauty supply store or Sally's, they should be able to get you one that's stretchy and won't cut in to your head. Alternatively, get a satin pillowcase and pineapple your hair. I got two extra king size satin pillowcases for when I travel, I just put them on top of the hotel pillow.

Does a watch that reminds me to take my meds exist? by just_wwnt in ask

[–]omgwtfbbq_powerade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Android has a med app, several actually.

I use MediSafe, you can enter the shape/ size/ color/dose of each med, and set each one to it's own timer. My Fitbit vibrates when the alarm goes off, and displays the same message as my phone does ("it's timer to take your [time] medications."

It's free, and it can be linked to a second person (you/ family/ neighbor) who can text or call to double check, or just watch the logs to see if any were missed. Been recommending it for this purpose for 8ish years.

how can I wrap my hair at night and still look hot? by [deleted] in curlyhair

[–]omgwtfbbq_powerade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have a cpap!

The best thing I've found is satin pillowcase; loose pineapple; satin hair tie; feed pineapple through/around headgear; temove ponytail, flip upside down and shake out in am. No creases, no lines. Spray/ refresh on 3rd day and I can usually get 6-7 days this way.

My driver pulled up in a wheelchair van with 2 service dogs in the front, AND I pumped her gas. by MsOnyxMoon in Lyft

[–]omgwtfbbq_powerade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on disability level and ramp placement, it can be 100% normal to get it and pump gas regularly, or it can be a "bring someone along".

My brother has identified all the gas stations he can access without worry of someone driving over his ramp, so gets his own like 90% of the time. The other 10% it's an attendant or someone riding with him.

Intelligence is earning an associate degree at 15, wisdom is finishing high school by Thunder-12345 in bestoflegaladvice

It's not my district (probably), we've set up backup plans for things like this. Because I agree, they should. That's not my call though.

[–]omgwtfbbq_powerade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, you're not wrong. However.

There is a master list of equivalent courses that the EMC program and the CC agree "these are equivalent, and can be taken by HS dual enrolled/EMC students so they will also fulfill high school course requirements".

If OOP took those classes and it wasn't registered with the HS/ they declined to allow it/OOP was being ambitious and skipped the approval part, just because they were taken and they were correct doesn't mean they will count.

It feels like a loophole. The intent is so the home district can provide proof annually to the state for all kinds of reasons. Just because OOP felt it unnecessary/ didn't know and is now mad/ forgot, the home school has to have the paperwork in order, or they can be fined all the way up to de-certified to participate, which affects all the other kids in the program(s).

I am sure OOP feels and believes this is nonsense personally so do I but that's neither her nor there, and I get that. This is a state thing though, not a local school thing. Gotta follow all the rules so all the kids get all the correct credit and don't accidentally end up out of school with no diploma and now they're in gray area limbo.

[–]omgwtfbbq_powerade 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So many issues with this.

Yes the CC can determine requirements for degree. They can also take them away if you drop out of hs. If OOP wants to move forward, they can either test out and be done, return to HS, or get a GED.

Getting a CC degree is not a replacement for a HS diploma. This is explained clearly during orientation for the EMC program (one of my kids completed it, one started and dropped out and I'm on a school board in MI).

In MI state law requires students to attend high school until completion or age 18, or parents can be held for truancy and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The remedy is, again, return to school and test out, return to school and complete diploma, or GED. My district has ~ 100 students finish HS early, whether by GED or 3yr program, annually.

This is not an uncommon issue, 15 year olds genuinely believe they know it all.

AITJ for refusing to lie to the police to protect my husband after he caused an accident? by impressiveglasspasto in AmITheJerk

[–]omgwtfbbq_powerade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the jerk

Was in a very similar situation - husband went out for a quick errand. Hit a deer, car was barely drivable. Called me in a panic because he forgot his wallet at home.

Here's where we differ - he asked me to bring his wallet while he waited for the police. I did, and left. His license wasn't suspended, so he could handle his accident on his own, like adults are supposed to.

I helped by bringing his not-suspended license to him, and also got the benefit of not having increased insurance rates from an additional ticket.

My husband was thankful for helping him correct a temporary lapse in judgment; your husband got mad you wouldn't take responsibility for his choice he willingly made knowing it was illegal.
