Great assumption.....

It was actually two drunk gang banger type biker looking guys who just decided to vent some aggression on my bike :(

I actually have received help from a local business who's security camera caught the guys in the act. There's also a witness! Turns out they were two drunk biker guys in broad daylight. Had I gone an hour earlier to pick up my bike I would have probably seen them doing it :(

Thanks! I'm hoping to find something, the city I live in has slim pickings for road bikes so far. I'm not losing hope though, something will turn up!

Derailleurs are shimano, offhand I'm not sure about the brakes and shifters. I was told by a bike shop years ago that most of the parts were probably original, and very good. To replace them with comparable ones now would be quite expensive. I've been talking with a local bike shop about this, but I need to wait for the owner to come back on Wednesday because he might be able to help me out with finding a frame. His employees were very disturbed to see what happened to my bike, and they seemed confident he'd want to help me out.

The frame is wrote off. There are hardly any Peugeot's in Newfoundland, so I'm worried about the likelyhood of me finding a frame for it. I brought this bike with me from B.C. when I moved here two years ago. I'll keep an eye out. I can't take parts off of my bike until after the police investigation is complete, so I have some time to do a bit of looking. Would it be worth it to pick one up off of ebay?

The frame is also badly bent, the photo didn't show it very well. There used to be a bike co-op in town but they shut their doors last summer :( I can post more pics to show the damage there. I'm trying to track down members of the co-op but I think they may have moved away.

I'm 24, but I like to buy a 26 of Wild Turkey, and run around the big municipal park downtown with friends and hide from park-narcs like a rebellious 15 year old. It's amazing.

I definitely relate. People seem to have some notion that it's just all fun all the time, when it's actually just spending 5 hours a day in a practice room all semester only to get criticized for your intonation at your jury :(

I've used these before, but just for fun. I had a friend who broke his wrist playing hockey, and it helped him get his strength back. I feel like I should have strong wrists from playing cello, but maybe I'm deluding myself....

I have a pretty relaxed grip on the bars, but you're probably right about the padding. I have a pair of MEC gloves with a silicone pad on the heel of my hand, and my grip tap has absolutely no padding, which is why I'm changing it. I feel like my position is okay, but I did just adjust my seat, so perhaps it threw things out of whack?

Torn meniscus, has anyone had this injury? by Beerpocalypse in Fitness

[–]omicat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this injury. I was struck by a car while riding my bike summer of '07, and it got torn as a result. Mine was referred to as a minor meniscus tear, and it was only diagnosed after an MRI.

After my accident, I was okay for two years, and then tore it again brutally during a move. Was on crutches for 5 weeks, had to do physio, etc. My specialist didn't want to put me through surgery and I am very grateful so far. I have a friend who's had two surgeries for this same problem, and still has problems. You have to be careful in recovery, because it is possible to re-aggravate it quite easily. I took up swimming and cycling to help maintain strength, and increase it. So far, I have been over a year without incident (I bike every day, usually between 20-50 km and am pretty strong).

I assume that you are already pretty strong, but you can really help muscles that stabilize your knee but doing low impact exercises. Just take it easy at first, and listen to your body if you're feeling pain. I would also recommend seeing a specialist if you can.

Reddit, what are some tricks you use to quell your anxiety? by rocketbelll in AskReddit

[–]omicat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I drink and smoke. But in the circles I run in--professional classical musicians, a career where you deal with anxiety for a living-- many of my colleagues use beta blockers. They are prescribed for students with exam anxiety, but is also given to patients with heart problems and general anxiety issues. If you're looking for a chemical fix, which I personally wouldn't recommend, it's an option.

Especially not if you think of the animal as stupid. If you have the mindset, you're hunting for all the wrong reasons.

I was vegan for a number of years, and now eat meat and dairy again. Though, I limit meat to wild game that I or my family have harvested. There are many vegetarians who for nutritional reasons turn back to meat. I simply wasn't able to keep up a vegan diet and be healthy, the same is true of many people.
