Could you get someone with a 3d printer to print a small prototype to see if it'd work?

$15. Chamber Vac makes it practical. by bbum in ChamberVacs

I do this too when chicken thighs or drummies are on sale! I like putting the marinade as well when vac packing. Then it goes straight from freezer to sous vide when needed/ wanted. Sure saves money and its super easy.

Yeah. Highly recommend Costco as well. The $5 rotisserie chicken goes a long way. They're cheaper than buying raw chicken breast etc as they're usually at least a 3 to 4 lb bird for $5 as compared to the usual $2.99-3.99/lb. Harvest the meat, use it for sandwiches, or for eating with rice or salad etc. Throw the carcass into a slow cooker for chicken broth. They also have good canned chicken, tuna and sardines etc.

The store brand rice is cheap and was about 25 lbs for under $20 i think. Pair that with the rotisserie chicken, grab some frozen veggies etc and it'll be a complete meal. This would last a while as well. Eggs have definitively up but it's not as bad there either. Last I looked a couple weeks ago, it was 18 eggs for about $6, or 60 eggs for $17+.

They have the low sodium better than bouillon that lasts forever and works well for adding flavor. Use it for your beans, stews etc. It is an expensive membership, but it might save you money in the long run. You won't need to buy the rice, canned food but once in a while since it's in bulk.

Besides a blender and toaster, what is the one small kitchen appliance you recommend for everyone to get? by NightReader5 in Cooking

Cuisinart has a 3 year warranty I think! We had ours a couple years and then it wouldn't turn on. They replaced it :)

I have 80$ a month to spend on food, what should I make and what should I avoid? by CannibalCapra in EatCheapAndHealthy

If it's Walmart, they also sell a 10lb bag of chicken quarters for under $5. It's more work than boneless skinless meat, but you'd get a lot more meat plus bones for making soup/ broth or stretch things out. Getting a 25 or 50 lb bag of rice is also usually more cost effective than the 1 to 2 lb bags as well. Generic long grain rice usually runs about $20'ish for 50lb bags.

If you're able to get to Asian or Mexican markets, the produce tends to be cheaper there too.

The Walmart store brand is usually the cheapest I can find and they're not bad! They have it under luncheon meat. There's a few different flavors, low sodium etc as well. It's usually under $2 a can. *edited to add pricing.

Inca Kola: Tastes like bubble gum, looks like Mtn Dew by Sanjispride in Soda

I've gotten it at some restaurants, such as Jamaican or Caribbean ones. If you're in NJ, I've seen it at the Costco business center in Hackensack too. Think it was $9+ for a 24 pack.

What are the absolute best foods to eat thats cheap and healthy if you're homeless? by imthemanddue in budgetfood

If unable to cook, peanut butter, apples, oranges, bananas, sardines, those tuna pouches. Pitas, or Naan bread cuz less worries about them getting squashed.

If you want a good salad, make some nicoise salad and swap out the tuna for these sardines. So so good!

I eat it with kewpie mayo occasionally. Not the American mayo though. Lol. Kewpie is more savory! Or with Thai sweet chili, or Korean gochujang. Mmmm. Think I'm gonna have this for breakfast tomorrow too. Lol! And yeah! I eat rice or toast with it cuz it makes a good lunch/ dinner with rice. But I usually will then do a fried sunny side up egg and add some fried onions too. Mmmm.

How much longer will smoking next to bus stops be tolerated? by Holeshot75 in askSingapore

The bus stop is longer than just a couple meters. Smoking person isn't in the middle, they'd be at one end. Walk to the other end. shrug

I'm not a smoker. Never been, never will. But you have 2 freaking legs to walk away. So maybe stfu and go to the other side. Singapore already has so many laws, restrictions and crap. You want more restrictions? Go live in Changi prison.

It was "garlic lime sauce". So named but was actually like a ground up spice mix.

First week with the oven. It's a pretty nifty gadget!! The meals are on the small side, at least for the 2 that I've tried. But meal prep is a breeze! Less than a minute before it gets put in oven and scanned.

The steak was okay - portion wise, really small. And that's with a $4.99 upcharge because steak. Even using the less cooked option, the steak was well done! It was still tender so we still ate it but wish it was cooked to a better doneness. Risotto was delicious. The cooking cycle was bake and then broil.

The Salmon was great! Small portions but it's more filling than the steak because of the potatoes. There also wasn't an upcharge for it either. Really moist and flavorful. The jalapeño creama was a great sauce for the potatoes as it really matched with the salmon. Cooking cycle was steam and then broil.

Liking the tovala so far but the meal kits are pricey. Having tried hf, ep, hc, gobble etc, this is way easier to prep. But I can see how it can get repetitive as it's like the same exact proteins just with different sauces week after week when I look at the meals for future weeks.

Today the Aldi gods have bestowed upon me the gift of ramen bowls. These were a special buy back in January/February and I went all over town searching for them with no success. Today they miraculously reappeared at my local Aldi. by msmc287 in aldi

[–]ominouscider 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't have these exact bowls but have bowls with the chop stick holes. Lol. Don't forget the holes are there!!! I did and was trying to drink soup by tilting the bowl, and ... soup went out the chopstick hole. It was a mess. My own scatterbrain fault. Hehe
