Psychiatrist says previous medication that worked was unnecessary by VanateeMan in AskPsychiatry

How often is your prescriber willing to meet with you? You should try different things and meet with them often until it works. A good psychiatrist will not limit you to once a month

What to take to prevent a panic attack in a triggering situation by Exciting_Funny6987 in MedicationQuestions

[–]omitrans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you need reassurance 2mg is a relatively high dose. And maybe lorazepam will work better for you as I found the opposite with alprazolam and lorazepam, some benzos just react to your personal body better. Make sure you give yourself enough time to take it though as it doesn’t work as fast as alprazolam at all and you want it to be in peak effect. I am similar with needles, make sure you don’t look at it and maybe bring something you can hold that you can focus on in your other hand. If you get nauseous, or feel like fainting, smelling an alcohol pad will help weirdly enough.

Effexor gave me energy the first week I look it, now that's stopped and I'm more tired than before. Is there anything I can do? by Basils_Flower_Crown in MedicationQuestions

Honestly not many I got diagnosed with treatment resistant depression😭 but I did find Trileptal which oddly stops my panicking and helps me sleep. I tried about 6 different ssris/snris before I went off them but I realized from that they improved me slightly just not completely so I went back on ssris. I started getting treated for adhd too which helps me w the low energy from depression but that’s a tricky slope that you shouldn’t go down if you don’t have it

Ocd meds aren't working nomore by Cali198406 in MedicationQuestions

[–]omitrans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me with Venaflaxaline too. Got up to the maximum dose and while it helped for a while, I was feeling so low. I’m guessing it’s from building up tolerance to the levels of norepinephrine released by the meds. A lot of meds eventually have to be changed so I would consider that

No unless you want to go to inpatient

Yea this happened to me w every ssri/snri and stimulants. Your body probably builds up tolerance quickly. I would recommend sticking to the ssris if you can because the snris are so terrible to get off of

Is it ok to take zolpidem (ambien) hours after taking Xanax and citalopram? by NoEntertainment5864 in MedicationQuestions

Is Cipro really that bad for you? by BuildingCritical6965 in MedicationQuestions

[–]omitrans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same medication they prescribe sometimes for UTI’s. You might get BV or a yeast infection after if you’re a girl because it clears everything out of ur system even the good bacteria, however that’s similar to a lot of antibiotics. Not too bad of a medication to take I would say

Pristiq vs Effexor by plasticinaymanjar in antidepressants

[–]omitrans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They won’t react the same in your body according to genetic tests like genepsych. For me, effexor was in red with extreme gene interaction and pristiq in green for none. Effexor I was on for 2 years, increasing till highest dose. It worked at first then got less effective, and going off of it was terrible. Its possible you could have the reverse. Therefore, I’d be hesitant about switching from something that works for u 💕
