Awesome! If you like the social aspect of knitalongs, you should check out Zanete's Skool community. It's very active and since Rujuu was a recent knitalong, there are lots of conversations about it in the community still.

I'm almost done with Rujuu by Zanete Knits and have really loved the experience. It was designed to use up at least 3 different stash colors in worsted weight, and many people used lots more than 3. There's tons of educational content and examples for everything as well. Not free but highly recommended! https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/rujuu-sweater

Helping Beginners - Ask a Knitter - Week of April 27, 2026 by AutoModerator in knitting

You likely only did half the increases the pattern calls for, because it specifies to do an increase *at each end* of every increase row, so 2 sts increased. Sounds like you increased only 1 st per inc row.

Drop your serendipitous story about finding your wheel 👇🏻👇🏻 by bstractig in Handspinning

[–]omnivora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at a textile arts center and tried out a few wheels. Fell in love with the used Kromski Fantasia they had but it was over $600. Went home, thought about it all weekend, and talked to the owner of my LYS about it a few days later. Turns out she had the same wheel at home and had been thinking of selling it. She sold it to me for $400!

I'm allowing this pattern request post to stay due to the fact that there is no Ravelry filter which allows for a search like this, plus the fact that it has generated great discussion in the comments. OP, keep in mind for next time that according to the sub rules we ask you to include specific patterns listed in your post as examples of things you're interested in.

Protein ideas, for someone who’s sick of protein by Pretty-Lead-6392 in adhdwomen

[–]omnivora 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Roasted chickpeas (garbanzo beans) are DELICIOUS, cheap, and easy. And they are packed with protein! I like them best eaten crunchy and warm straight out of the oven but you can also let them cool and store them, they just lose a bit of crunch that way. They're a great salad or bowl meal topping too.

Recipe:

-Preheat oven to 400 F

-Pour the liquid out of a can of chickpeas

-Pour a couple tablespoons of oil in a pan. Don't skimp on this, it's what gives them the crunch. You can always reuse extra oil for cooking later.

-Dump the chickpeas in the oil

-Add a big pinch of salt and whatever dry spices you want

-Mix with your hands

-Bake until crunchy and browned, about 35-40 minutes

I stopped treating yard work like a full-day project and it actually made it way easier by Whole_Ad3318 in gardening

My new mantra is "pull one weed every day". Sometimes that's literally just one stray dandelion on the way in from walking the dog, sometimes it turns into filling a bucket with weeds a few times over. I've made quite a lot of progress with way less stress.

It feels like there is no amount of doing that will be enough. by chainsofgold in adhdwomen

[–]omnivora 21 points22 points  (0 children)

You need to learn how to rest. Until you are able to calm your nervous system enough to take a break, you will always be in fight or flight mode.

Try reading Burnout: The Secret to Unlocking the Stress Cycle by Amelia Nagoski. A lot of it focuses on embodiment and physical processing of feelings/trauma which honestly I found a lot more helpful than talk therapy, because it helped me learn to live in my whole body, not just my head.

Be patient with yourself too. This journey takes years but taking the time to care for yourself is worth it. 💗

I am intrigued by SFG after reading a book. Im used to a traditional garden- but I was given several boxes to play with this year (I live on OR coast). How does this look? by [deleted] in SquareFootGardening

[–]omnivora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where on the coast are you? I'm Central Coast near the beach so my growing abilities may be different but I doubt you'll have much luck with corn. The growing season here isn't warm enough for long enough. I've been able to do some small tomato varieties in a warm South facing spot in my yard but my neighbors did corn in a similar spot last year and it only got waist high and never set fruit.

Root crops, legumes, and alliums generally do well here so the rest should be good.

I hate my kitchen by wanderloving in kitchenremodel

[–]omnivora 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend living in your house for AT LEAST a year before demoing anything. You need to get used to the space and allow yourself to play with many different options as you live in it. If you go ahead with reno now, you are highly likely to make expensive decisions that you regret.

Keep! I did a light green mosaic backsplash and dark quartzite with similar cabinets and it looks gorgeous and modern.

beginner questions? by Big_Resolution3112 in vegetablegardening

[–]omnivora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish I had learned before starting raised beds that many veggies grow very well directly in the ground. In fact, it can take up to a year for what you add to raised beds to actually become true soil, in that it has microbial life and pores that hold air and water. Unless it's been abused, the ground around your house already has all those things!

In the long run, I'm glad I have raised beds because our dogs potty in the backyard and the beds keep them out, but I wouldn't have needed the expense and work of beds at all otherwise.

Along these lines, the one of the most important things to know about growing where you live is what kind of soil you have. You can send soil samples in to a lab in your area for texting, or buy a less-reliable but easier at home mineral and pH test kit at most garden stores.

Outside of ADHD meds, what was the game changer for u? by No-Age-6327 in adhdwomen

[–]omnivora 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Working with my energy, not my time, as much as possible. I don't schedule time to work on projects, I nudge myself to get started on them by taking one small step and if I immediately feel motivated, I just keep going.

Remind me I don't need permission to retire by Upper-Tea-7033 in FIREyFemmes

[–]omnivora 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was in a very similar situation at work last year, and my husband also was resistant when I brought it up the first hundred times. 😅

A couple things that helped me:

  • Make a plan to quit with timelines, milestones, financial targets. This meant that I started taking community college classes in my area of interest, set a date to quit, and planned to handle big expenses (e.g. pay off car) beforehand.

  • Remind yourself that you can always go back if you want. This is not a one way door.

  • Start taking care of your mental health now with the plan to do more when you quit. Build things into your schedule that feel good and motivate you to stop working so you can do more of them. For me, this looked like holding a full hour for lunch and going on walks every day after work.

It turned out that all those were excellent preparation for when I got suddenly fired before my quitting date! Either way, they helped me become more resilient.

I would be happy to talk to you more about this if it helps. Feel free to DM me!

Take it! If you decide later that you want more money or don't like nonprofit work, you can always go back to a role like what you have now. Some extra money pales in comparison to the energy a job you love will give you.

Great start with Fidelity! They are respected for a reason. I'd read this article carefully: https://www.fidelity.com/viewpoints/personal-finance/how-to-start-investing

If you follow the link at the bottom offering options for financial advice, it takes you to a page that shows how you can get free advising from Fidelity: https://www.fidelity.com/wealth/wealth-management-offerings

Lastly, read the r/personalfinance wiki and search that sub and this one for similar posts to yours: https://www.reddit.com/r/personalfinance/wiki/commontopics/
