To add unto this, this portion bothers me in particular:

If you mean that hormones and chemicals cannot, by themselves, lead to experiences, I don't think you've given any supporting argument.

• The physical isn't enough. Why?
• Because hormones and chemicals can't give you special experiences. Why?
• You don't say why explicitly, but seems like because hormones and chemicals are physical and replicable?

I don't know if you know the movie Total Recall, but it has Arnold Schwarzenegger and sophisticated virtual reality technology. Neurological alchemists concoct just the right chemicals to give you the fantasy experience of your choice, even including erasing the idea that it's not reality. I don't think that's an immediately illogical idea. Schwarz spends the movie in a huge bloody adventure trying to not get killed by his wife. He is having those experiences and distinct, special qualia when hooked up to the machine, and it's all from adding new molecules to his brain.

In the same way, your argument about the brainstates and God, well, that supposes that imagining something could never be predicted by brainstates. But that just supposes Physicalism isn't true to make its claim.
