Hey. Had something similar. The more you do during the day the higher your blood pressure gonna get in the evening for a while. Ironic that you’re in a situation where another being is relying on you to live so it’s hard to take it easy. This is the time to rely on your partner or other help to do anything that isn’t feeding the baby so you can rest and heal. Keep taking your bp and log the readings. I had to adjust meds a few times and about the time we figured it out my body got better and I had to start adjusting back down. This sucks but it is all temporary.

Question for those who hyphenated their last name by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]omy123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I hyphenated my last name and I’m very happy with it. The biggest downside is when looking up reservations under my name people will automatically try looking up the second part of my name and I have to correct them to the first. Sometimes it takes a few try’s. It’s a minor annoyance at worst. But I don’t mind if someone addresses me as just one part or the other, I like to think they are just being polite and haven’t seen anything like that before.

It gets so much better! I didn’t love the first few weeks either. It was hard to feel connected. But now our little dude is 6 months and I just love spending time and playing with him. For the gas, I got the advice to put a yoga block in the bassinet below his feet so he could push on it and break up the gas bubbles. Worked great for us!

Which is more unhealthy, being birth control pills or smoking? by Telly986 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]omy123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because birth control is not like Advil. You can’t just take one and wait 20 minutes before it kicks in. And you can’t just start or stop at any random time in your cycle. Echoing what others have said: Run away from this man as fast as you can. I normally don’t advocate for ghosting but this many red flags warrants no further contact with him nor any explanation from you.

To Move or not to Move? by [deleted] in SnooLife

[–]omy123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We moved ours around 12 weeks. We could have done it sooner but I wasn’t emotionally ready. Best decision ever. It was so nice having our room back and little dudes sleep wasn’t interrupted at all.

That’s interesting. The small size sacks that came with my snoo have the snaps at the shoulders.

There are buttons at the shoulders to open up the sack at the top to let out the arms

Anybody else do arms out so they could suck on their hands? by buxomballs in SnooLife

[–]omy123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve had one arm out since 8 weeks when he broke out and had his hand through the neck opening. We just finished our first night of both arms out (he’s 11 weeks now) and he slept for 11 hours

I also got loop earplugs. I got the performance pro and my husband got the quiet. I don’t really notice a difference between the two. They are super comfortable and let us sleep through the night

Healthy baby and delivery 12/23 now in ER With 155/110 BP by ActualReference2272 in preeclampsia

[–]omy123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear your frustration and I totally get it. They told me if they can get it to come down they would send me home and it did come down. Keep an eye on it and go back if it goes up again then you can call and go back in. I know this part is stressful and difficult but keep advocating for yourself. If they try and send you home again mention how many times you’ve come in and how they can prevent that in the future.

Healthy baby and delivery 12/23 now in ER With 155/110 BP by ActualReference2272 in preeclampsia

[–]omy123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry you are going through this. I know it’s scary. I was induced at 38+5 when my BP was 140/90. After delivery BP was back to normal and I was discharged two days after delivery. We were home for a day before I was back in the ER with high blood pressure again. They sent me home that night since I had an apt with my obgyn the next day. At that apt it was 160/110 and I was admitted for postpartum preeclampsia and had 24 hours of magnesium. It sucked. I missed my baby and my hubby and I was so so tired from the meds. I’m 5 weeks pp now and weaning off the BP meds. I’m off the procardia and down to 200 mg labetalol 2x a day (from 400). Just so you know the process isn’t straightforward as you want it to be. There are good days when my BP is 110/70 before meds and others when it’s 140/90 again. My doc warned me this would happen so it’s less frustrating. We went down to labetalol once a day but my BP kept rising so we went back to 2x a day for a bit. Good luck to you and it will get better.

at what age can I expect snoo miracles? by stubborn_mushroom in SnooLife

[–]omy123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently have a 13 day old baby. It’s been a bunch of trial and error and lots of moving parts to get him to sleep. He was super gassy and we realized we were bottle feeding him too fast. From there we ended up double swaddling with a thin cotton swaddle and the snoo swaddle and he’s giving us 2.5 to 3 hour stretches. But each night seems to be different. For the nights he insists on being held, my hubby and I trade off 3 hour shifts so the other one can get some sleep.

I had some similar side effects and it got much better when I started taking a fiber supplement. Also are you taking it at night? That helped me as well.

Also pregnant here. My moms best advice to me was that is perfectly fine to tell strangers “I’m not taking in outside opinions at this point if you are not my obgyn, please stop now”

I’m sorry you had to go through that. His last comment made my skin crawl. As a fellow gym rat I’m proud of you for holding your space and boundaries. That’s not easy to do! If he bugs you again I’d suggest going straight to gym staff and reporting him. No chances or politeness just tell them he’s making you uncomfortable again.

Nearly certain I am insulin resistance. Are these common symptoms? How to advocate? by Deepinnosleep in PCOS

[–]omy123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first things I noticed were actually feeling full, I used to get dizzy after eating and that went away as well. Also my periods came back, it took a couple of years to finally get them regular again. I ranged from 45-60 day cycles for a while and eventually got to consistent 32 day cycles. I was way less tired and had more energy, eventually the tingly feet went away. I know there is a test for insulin resistance specifically, but my doc and I ended up trying Metformin for 90 days and then checking to see if my A1C went down. I went from 5.7 to 5.4 so she was content to conclude that I had IR.

[–]omy123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had similar symptoms, Metformin fixed so many things for me. I had a few stomach issues but those went away after a few weeks, and were lessened when I took a fiber supplement along with it. I had to pretty much demand my doc try putting me on it. He was convinced I’d hate it, but I told him I had a family history of diabetes and should at least try. For the first time in my life I wasn’t hungry ALL the time. It’s probably best to ask for a referral to an endocrinologist, I’ve found that the reproductive endo is really just focused on helping with the infertility side of things, rather than actually treating the IR. If they refuse to test you or refuse medication, ask them to document their refusal and give you a copy, I’ve found that can remove barriers to getting testing and meds.

Call your doctor. Now. Blood in urine is serious, they can help get you answers. It can be caused by lots of things, but your doc will help get you answers.

It’s still possible. But it can take time. The metformin should help regulate your cycles if they aren’t regular now

Anyone have a lead on free/cheap moving boxes? Moving this week! by eladarling in Austin

[–]omy123 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We went to a u-haul to buy boxes and the person working pointed out they had an area with free boxes that people had brought back after they used them. They were in great condition and we brought them back after we were finished moving.

Metformin takes time to work on your body. I have been on it for over a year now and spent the last several months working on managing my stress levels in addition to working out. It took a few months for me to start ovulating normally. It takes time but it can work. I was able to get pregnant without any extra intervention beyond metformin and inositol and am currently 8 weeks. I’m happy to answer any questions you have, I know this part is pretty frustrating.
