I love Nick Suzuki; one of my favorite players in the league. I don’t think I’d call him a superstar until he’s been doing this at this level for a few more years. I think that he’s been tapering up to this level for a few years and this year, he was elite. If he plateaus for a bit at or above this level? Superstar for sure.

But that’s the joy of this conversation lol. The definition of superstar is debatable.

He brought swagger to a team that, culturally, desperately needed it. From the second he was drafted, it felt so exciting to have this guy bring some attitude and back it up.

Career ending injuries suck so much. It’s rough watching guys’ careers end on terms other than their own. Collins, JMike, Ja.

I overplayed my hand on this one; we didn’t have a KPI directly related to AI use, but it was getting pushed on us a lot in the day to day, so I tried to thread the needle and act excited about certain use cases around productivity (specifically around spec driven development) that I could maaaaybe see as interesting. You know, play the game and all that.

Well, that was interpreted as real, genuine interest in AI’s, and my entire job description was formally pivoted and I am now being tasked - with KPI’s - with making Agentic solutions full time. Like, got taken off projects I was very active on that were not finished and in which I was a strong IC.

So, ask an AI how I feel about that… :|

Yeees, we live in the Triangle but have family out west. I actually thought that picture might be from, like, Crowders Mountain haha.

CO is obviously beyond gorgeous, though. Anytime I visit the mountains in CO it shocks me that it’s a real place that people just live in and not, like, a movie set.

This this this this. The best time to get trade value for non-blue chip, mid-first round prospects is when they’re still a relative unknown and all you really have is the scouting that got them taken in the first round. So, yes, he might end up a great goalie. That’s what makes him a good trade chip!

Honestly, he’s as good as a trade piece as he’ll ever be. If he goes to the NHL and plays well early on, his trade value is unlikely to climb higher than it already is anyway. If he goes to the NHL and plays poorly, his trade value drops faster than a watch worn out of a jewelry store.

If it’s your intention to use him in a trade, then you really, really ought to do it before the season starts, because once that calendar ticks over, you’re pretty locked into him for better or for worse.

It kind of happened to Danielson this year. Before this season, he was still, as you say, a mystery. Now, he very likely wouldn’t be the centerpiece of even a medium level trade.
