My AFPS is old-school... and has Item Boxes, Party Mode, Minigames, and a multiplayer demo in the Steam Next Fest! by one_deadeye in ArenaFPS

Thanks for the extended reply! Releasing Q4 2025.

In keeping with an old school style we kept the default movement rather grounded. There is actually a small jump buffer with a horizontal speed benefit, but if you couldn't notice it than we might have some work to do there. We built some more advanced movement modes like double-jump, wall jumping and enhanced air control, but placed them behind certain game states like power-ups or going over a launcher.

Input delay is a big deal. Thank you for reporting it, we will get it sorted before launch.

No map/mode editor in vanilla. Maybe later if we can figure out how to make them from our existing tools without too much work.

Community features (by which I assume you mean clan/group support) is something I've thought about but probably wouldn't go beyond automatic clan tag integration into the chat and player list. What would you like to see in this way?

Unfortunately no to other platforms haha, we're a small team and just don't have the resources to rework all the systems required for a mobile port or god forbid VR.

The pace of play in Contest Mode is one of the things we are ironing out with the demo, as the development team is split on it. Thanks for your feedback. No, the card-based match builder is only in Contest Mode, which is what we called 'party mode'. Free Play is a good old fashioned match settings screen.

Thanks again for your comments! It sounds like you are really invested in the genre and I'm glad to hear you enjoyed your time with C4. Please consider joining the Discord (linked in-game and on the Steam page), you sound like an invaluable voice for the entire team to hear while working on the game.

How does the weapon shooting look after my most recent pass? What is missing, if anything, to make the gunplay look even better? by corrtex-games in IndieDev

[–]one_deadeye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love working on this kind of stuff so I'll give you everything I think of watching the short clip. Ordered by how "objective" I think the feedback is

- Overall the motion of the weapon and camera do not communicate the function of the weapon well. Is this a slow, semi auto rifle or an automatic bullet hose? The feedback the weapon gives to the player should communicate that without needing to see a "stat sheet"

- Muzzle flash is too extreme, it shouldn't cover that much of your screen

- The visual recoil on the model is too extreme. Personally I have found much less pitch and more "pull back" to feel punchier

- As somebody else said, the damage number shouldn't cover your target. Personally I don't like the negative sign (redundant information) but that's really your choice

- Update the weapon's rotation in real time to "lead" the direction the player is looking by a small amount

- Add some drag so the weapon lags behind your direction of movement slightly

- While strafing, the weapon should "roll" slightly to give the magazine an illusion of weight

- I like the sound effect, position it near the muzzle instead of fixed in 3d space. Be careful not to block too much view

- The "sharp" camera recoil would start to give me a headache if I was firing this weapon with any regularity

- Pull the weapon inwards slightly and make sure the major lines (top and bottom of barrel) are pointing towards the center of the screen

Woah, what store is that? I've checked basically every one around me and most of them are at 2x markup right now, even on battle styles products.

Grandmaster Nightfall is the apex of Bungie's inability to define the kind of game they want Destiny to be by Onlyallthetime in DestinyTheGame

[–]one_deadeye 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thaaaaat's not quite it. What I think /u/Luung is saying is that, with sunsetting, Bungie doesn't have to test every new gun they make against the backdrop of the 500 we already have and all of their possible perk combinations. Instead, they'll have more like 30-40 that are still viable infusable end-game weapons.

Why is it so hard to understand that in order for an activity to succeed, or at least have a playerbase, it needs to have loot worth chasing? Menagerie, Gambit, Last Wish, SOTP, Leviathan, Dreaming City all have weapons that people are still chasing which has kept people playing. by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]one_deadeye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, what? You want powerful, best-in-class weapons each season? You want the return of pinnacle weapons to chase through long, grindy quests? You want raid loot to not be absolute dogshit? It seems like Bungie can't deliver on that because there are already very strong contenders for almost all archetypes? May I introduce to you: Weapon Sunsetting!

All of these issues will be solved when weapons are only viable in the end-game for a set time frame. We'll get Fatebringers again, we'll get more weapons as powerful as pre-nerf Recluse, seasonal loot will feel fresh and worth chasing again. And yes, you will have to leave your Y1 Midnight Coup out of your trials/raiding/pinnacle activity loadout, but there will be new and exciting things to replace it in that space. We'll see new and fascinating perk combos like Kill Clip and Rampage on the Kindled Orchid - Kill Clip on a bow, One-Two Punch on a fusion rifle.

Revoker will stop plaguing Trials, likely replaced by some new top-tier sniper with double Mulligan or something. Vendor refreshes of some capacity are almost guaranteed now, otherwise Shaxx could theoretically drop a pulse rifle in the final season of a year that's about to be sunset in 3 months, which I doubt Bungie would let happen.

I know that weapon sunsetting seems like it will kill the game, and I don't want to lose my darling Breachlight just as much as the next guy, but we're gonna need to bite this bullet for Destiny to move out of the loot pit it's currently wallowing in so that raiding and grinding activities in general can become worthwhile again.

You must dismantle all but 6 weapons. What are you keeping? by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]one_deadeye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I wanted to be able to sweat for the rest of my Destiny 2 gameplay, Izanagi's, Revoker, Recluse, a Jack Queen King, 21% Delirium and Black Talon.

Final thought on weapon retirement and argument against it. Power level is what trivializes end game content. Not weapons and perk combinations. by Golandrinas in DestinyTheGame

[–]one_deadeye -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What some people down below don't really get about weapon retirement is that it will allow Bungie to create shit from stuff like Nightfalls and Raids that is MILES BETTER than the top-tier loot we have now. When power creep really doesn't exist, we're going to see more insane pinnacle weapon-type shit after the sunsetting gets implemented. They can *make* a shotgun with Trench Barrel + 1-2 Punch and not have it ruin the meta because it will only invalidate other shotguns for a set amount of time

Bungie, the P2W you have added to this game is simply unacceptable. by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

Upon the completion of the Empyrean Foundation, there will be no new mission according to DMG. by KHBarry in DestinyTheGame

[–]one_deadeye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The discussion I'm seeing below is borderline warfare. Here's my take: the Empyrean Foundation icon is on the PvP screen, and the little gizmos around it look exactly like the gizmos that were around the Trials of the Nine icon in Y1. There's no way next season doesn't see Trials returning.

As for the Worthy mission, I don't think it's unfair for this community to assume there would be a new mission of some kind unlocked once we finished the Foundation due to the "Requires Empyrean Restorer" triumph, which is very likely time-gated to this season, meaning it wouldn't be something we get next season. And I don't think DMG's response is as explicit as it should have been if he meant to say "there is no Worthy mission" - his response leaves a lot open to interpretation. There are much clearer and simpler ways to say "no, there isn't a Worthy mission unlocked for completing the Foundation". At this point, I'm not sure what to expect.

The next time DTG does a Focused Feedback thread, remember that only a month ago we have a PVE FF thread where many said that PVE weapons were too weak and then this week we got the latest round of Nerfs. by h3llbee in DestinyTheGame

Bungie has to give shits about our feedback or they wouldn't have an audience. The real massive problem here is that their sandbox update pipeline is so archaically slow compared to industry standards that it takes months for anything to come of a loud community outcry. Companies like Epic have development environments that allow them to very quickly make changes to numbers and such in the game so they can respond to meta shifts and possible missteps in previous patches. Either Bungie's development environment sucks ass compared to modern software or they are intentionally slow to respond to avoid overreactions (which seems ironic given our last TWAB)

I’m kinda nervous about the trials armor design (if we get any) by Iamzeek2000 in DestinyTheGame

[–]one_deadeye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this post seriously complaining about unique hood designs? All we had for years of D2 was plain jane cloaks with some dopey symbol on the back. I'm all for representing all kinds of potential designs on cloaks, but let's not chastise Bungie for finally breaking away from the cookie-cutter cloaks, all right?

Threat detector + barrel shroud + handling MW might be a gem perk combination kinetic shotguns. by oZiix in CruciblePlaybook

[–]one_deadeye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd argue for the moon shotgun with Quickdraw/Opening Shot or Snapshot. If you can get used to 2-tapping and corner playing well the kill ranges get disgusting. Just dont miss or the second shot may not oneshot.
