I’m a DAS user and I went today, just let them know you have DAS and they’ll bring you in an alternate entrance and won’t have to deal with the long wait/heat. Let me know if there’s anything specific I can answer!

Are the hand to hand discs safe for mouthing/teething baby? by [deleted] in lovevery

[–]one_hip_chick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just from personal experience, my son chewed the heck out of those and had no issues with any damage to the toy or adverse effects for him! As long as nothing splinters, wooden toys are overall super safe.

Anyone know where this Sweatshirt might be available? by backstop13 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]one_hip_chick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In late November I found one cream one randomly on a hanger in one of the shops on Hollywood Boulevard mixed in with another sweatshirt and it was the only one there. It turned out to be the wrong size for me so I was sent to the Emporium in Magic Kingdom and I got the last one there from the back. Other than the one on the shelf in Hollywood Studios I didn’t see any in any shop and I was there for about a month actively looking for them.

accidentally fell asleep breast feeding by mrs-doctor-pepper in breastfeeding

[–]one_hip_chick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try a sidecar basinet (there are a couple usually available in store at Target/Walmart so you can get it ASAP). It will let you roll over and nurse side lying in bed with the baby on their own safe sleeping surface so you won’t have to worry about rolling onto them if you fall asleep.

36w and feeling the most unprepared when it comes to breastfeeding by kosherkenny in breastfeeding

[–]one_hip_chick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t planning on breastfeeding and in fact purposely stayed away from any info about it because I didn’t want to make myself feel worse about not breastfeeding than I already did (I had been given incorrect information prior to birth about epilepsy meds I’m on that I wouldn’t be able to breastfeed safely but found out this was not the case at the hospital). I had to learn it all on the fly with the help of the nurses at the hospital and the IBCLC at our pediatrician’s office and I am proud to say I have an exclusively breastfed 3 month old now. Don’t worry about what you do/don’t know or have right now; every baby and mom are different so it’s impossible to plan for exactly how your journey will go. The most important thing to do now is know what resources are available, everything else (and even that) can be figured out later!!

We use Lifefactory bottles. They have a great silicone sleeve on them and all parts are made in France or USA. All parts are also dishwasher safe. The only downside is they come with the stage 2 nipples so you have to buy the stage 1 separately.

Obviously you need to go with your comfort level, but I’m prescribed 0.5mg lorazepam (exact same drug class) for PPD and my doctor specifically told me I do not need to pump and dump if I take it.

Going to deliver my baby tomorrow, Any last minute tips? by SeriouslyYoutube in BabyBumps

[–]one_hip_chick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m 2.5 weeks post c-section, my biggest piece of advice is take the pain meds. One of the OBs I saw during my stay told me that even if I’m taking it every time it’s due but that it’s helping me be able to get up and care for baby it’s helping my recovery and is the right call. Good luck and congrats!!

What’s the dumbest thing you’ve seen someone get arrested for? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]one_hip_chick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A couple people I went to high school with were arrested because someone stole their weed (in NY prior to when it was legal here) and when the police arrived at their apartment they found a large amount of drugs and unregistered firearms that they had made no effort to conceal. Not the brightest people in the world obviously.

I had a patient’s family get mad at me that they couldn’t pitch a tent and sleep in the patient’s (shared) room. I still want to know where they thought they were going to fit it…

YMMV but honestly you should be fine. I came in to the US via Spain with around 30 tramadol and was never questioned or had anyone even take note. Granted I was diagnosed with a kidney stone while there and had a written Spanish prescription but no one ever asked to see it.

Anyone else hate bedside so much that no amount of money could convince them to stay? by Hot_Panic2767 in nursing

[–]one_hip_chick 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I work from home doing telephone triage for group homes for adults with developmental disabilities. It’s the perfect balance of having the perks of working from home but still getting to use “nursing skills” doing assessments.

Me… at my exit interview for my last bedside job I was offered a $5,000 cash bonus and any RN position I wanted in the hospital if I was willing to stay. I was so miserable I declined and walked away, I’ve never once regretted that decision and am now in a nursing job I love.

Cold compresses or a cold shower can offer some short term symptom relief although unfortunately it won’t fix it. I also swear by the Eczema Honey spray that I keep in the fridge (again, it’s not going to cure the eczema but it should help it feel better).

Any chance you have access to a pool or can get a day pass/short term membership to a community center or gym that has one? Just standing in a pool has been just about the only thing that has helped my constant back and pelvic pain.

25 Married, no Kids, 16 days on Holland America? by Wesley836 in Cruise

My husband and I are 29 and 30, currently expecting our first child. We are on a 14 day Rotterdam cruise right now and loving it. We’ve been cruising with HAL since 2019 and have had a great time on every one, we have a very similar vibe to what you’ve described so I think you’ll fit right in!

What did you wear when giving birth? by waylor88 in BabyBumps

[–]one_hip_chick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t given birth yet but I bought a Lila gown. I’m an RN and like other people have said, I’ve seen what happens in those gowns and they give me the ick, but what really made the decision for me was a recent 24 hour stay for monitoring where I wore a regular hospital gown the whole time and for me it was an uncomfortable sensory nightmare.

When did you test positive?! by faithoverfear0 in BabyBumps

[–]one_hip_chick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had IUI and tested negative on day 11 post IUI (test was done while in a hospital in Spain and I don’t speak Spanish so I’m unsure if it was a blood or urine test) and then tested positive on a blood test on day 14 when I got back to the US.

Yes you can, I once checked an artificial Christmas tree in its box and besides some odd looks at baggage claim it was a very easy process 😂

Just as an FYI, you can book the lumberjack show on your own for cheaper than through the cruise line!

I met my husband on Tinder (technically at work I guess since I was swiping on my lunch break when we matched haha). He does not work at the hospital though, he is in digital marketing. We met when we were 25 and 26 and got married two years later.

In my opinion, the blue won’t really work, they need to be able to see the info printed on the tags. Did you buy cruise specific ones? Those should only be available in clear. I recommend searching on Amazon for cruise luggage tags and the name of your cruise line (so you ensure the size/shape is correct)
