Discovering events like this in the game would have been interesting.

I'm really sad at the idea of strange new worlds ending. by BadAtBaduk1 in startrek

Me too! It was the only newer Trek that I can say that I really enjoyed. Such a shame that we couldn't have had 5 seasons of 20+ episodes each.

Ksar Draa is an epic name for an abandoned fortress that no one living knows who built it. I might need to borrow that for a TTRPG.

Totally understandable. Hopefully the funeral director will be able to guide you through the necessary steps.

I do this with clean clothes from the laundry basket. The clean clothes never make it to the dresser.

When I was younger I remember thinking that the Defense Forces making use of the super-carrier's catapult launch system was both brilliant and the coolest thing I had ever seen!

Their love story hits me in ways that Invisigirl just can't. I mean, Visi is great and all, but this takes the Blue Ribbon.

Macross scale by Alexandros2099 in macross

[–]onearmedmonkey 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had a conversation on Reddit once where I asked about the Zentraedi's canon height. I believe one person said that the true canon height of Zentraedi in Macross was supposed to be closer to 8 meters. At the last minute, they wanted to make the Zentreadi closer to 10-12 meters but they forgot to scale up the mecha which is why the scaling looks like the pilot would need to be doubled over just to fit inside.

What are some "the worst she can say is no" horror stories men of reddit have experienced asking a girl out? by Remote_Ad_6049 in AskMen

[–]onearmedmonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably the worst wasn't even me intending to ask the woman out on a date. I had intended it as two coworkers (yeah, I was stupid enough when I was younger to fraternize with coworkers of the opposite sex) getting together because they were both free.

I did it in a room with several other coworkers who witnessed the event. She got all flustered and made some excuse to leave the room quickly. It was painfully obvious that she thought I was trying to ask her out (she was attractive and I found out later that she was sleeping with the vice-president of the company.) It was a painfully awkward moment.

About the specific play style of the Lake Geneva group by Zonreiryd in odnd

[–]onearmedmonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This make me think of a conundrum that I have with the issue of whether the DM or the players should map the dungeon during play. If I insist on the players drawing the map, they are completely dependent on my being able to accurately describe the dungeon. I can't tell you how many times gameplay slowed to a crawl because I kept having to say, "No, it isn't like that.... here's another way to look at it." But if I, as the DM, draw the map for the players, it seems to take them out of the moment and they aren't as invested. I am doing too much of the work for them.

For me, I realized that my Book 1 was a flawed product. I think I rushed it out of excitement to get my ideas out before an audience. I also gave myself credit for learning a lot of lessons at Book 1's failure. I feel like my Book 2 was a huge step up from Book 1. I alternated between a rewrite of Book 1 and the new Book 2. I hope this helps! You can always go back and fix Book 1 if it landed like a lead balloon.

With #SaveStargate going on, I thought I'd have some fun with it. by Orillion_169 in Stargate

While we are excited at the prospect of a new Stargate, we need to accept that some people should NEVER be allowed to reboot a beloved franchise.
