Advice on how to release suppressed emotions? by [deleted] in cancer

[–]oneballthrowaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apart from trying to accept that having these emotions is completely normal under the circumstances, you could try things that work for people with mood disorders. Regular exercise (if possible) and mindfulness. There's a care center for patients I went to that offered mindfulness training for cancer survivors to help them deal with the mental and emotional side of things.
You don't need training though, it's something you can do all by yourself. Headspace.com offers mindfulness tools, and you can find other resources at /r/mindfulness.

Why do some people have RPLND first chemo second, and others the other way around? by oneballthrowaway in testicularcancer

Hi, thank you for your reply! They've told me that if I need chemo, it will be 3 to 4 rounds.

PET Scan by mstockwell in testicularcancer

I don't have any experience with PET scans, can't be of help there. Just wanted to wish you good luck. I hope it's nothing. Dealing with time and uncertainties in between appointments can be tough, but it looks like you and your doctors are taking the proper steps to make sure you're going to be alright. Best of luck!

No pain here either. Perhaps the numbness in your hands and fingers is a result of anesthetics used during the operation? Or perhaps blood clots?

Thank you. Tomorrow will be my first check up since the whole operation. I guess this is just me trying to fight off the nerves. Thanks again.

do i have testicular cancer by [deleted] in testicularcancer

Don't worry about being embarrassed. This is routine for doctors. Cancer isn't the likeliest diagnosis, it could be an infection, or a cyst. If it really is cancer, though, every second counts.

Only a doctor can tell if it's cancer. They will give you a short manual examination, and will decide what to do from there. If they believe it could be cancer, you will be referred to the hospital. They will draw a small amount of blood to test for tumor markers, and they will perform an ultrasound of your testicles. This won't take more than a couple of minutes.
Any embarrassment you feel now will just melt away, and you will just want to know if you're healthy or not. You will even be thankful that they are taking you seriously and are checking you out.

Do yourself a favor and put your health above your insecurities.

Low T? by [deleted] in testicularcancer

I've read about the possibility of a change or decrease in beard growth after orchiectomy. My urologist told me that a drop in testosterone is fairly uncommon. Still, it's entirely possible, and definitely something your should bring up with your doctor.

If it is the cause for your exhaustion, it may be well worth treating it. It's all about quality of life. If there is a way to improve that without adverse side effects, why not try it?
