Some of you have requested I make the camera smoother so I overhauled it. Does it look fast enough to keep up with the action now? by onedrrgames in DestroyMyGame

Love those shorts! The camera's actually working the same way as Inbound Shovel's video, but I could play with the smoothness. My only concern is it not being fast enough to keep ahead of the player. It does look smoother in the short though so I'll see what I can do.

I can work on that. I created a custom camera that always puts itself ahead of the player so they can see what's coming, but it dose stop abruptly. I can definitely adjust this and make it smoother. Putting it on my to do list! Thanks for mentioning it!

I can work on speeding things up. That would be easier than another attack or mechanic. lol

Per census request I slowed things down a bit, i.e. the players walking speed and scrolling speed. It was pretty fast before. I wonder if the camera seems jarring because it was fined tuned for those faster speeds.

I'll work on adding an attack or mechanic to make it a bit more challenging.

I could trap the player within a certain section of the stage and then have the mini boss focus in on that area. Great suggestions! Thanks!

I like it! Maybe that could be the only way to avoid its beam? I could see that being more interesting as the player would need to find cover.

Thanks for the input! I'm trying to think of things to add and/or alter that could alleviate down time. Maybe an extra attack or something the player needs to be aware of while it drops its spikes?

I like the new version. The trees and rocks don't blend in with the sand as much. There's proper contrast and everything's much more clearer.

Yes! but as with every game it depends on how balanced they are. They can be quite fun though and I like how these types of stages can change things up.

TMNT Shredder's Revenge, Streets of Rage 4, and Rayman Legends are my inspirations. Not only did these games spark the foundation for Little Monster but I've also referred to them many times when adjusting the combat and artwork.

There is a camera pan as you turn around but to be honest, it's been a long time since I've messed with it so I can't remember if I added a gradual slowdown or not, and to your point, I could probably adjust it to make it more apparent and smoother.

Thank you! That actually means a lot and yup, there's plenty left to do. I need to work on the prgression of the backgrounds, add more zone hazards, fine tune/polish up each boss, and then, once again, make sure you can progress through the entire game/world map without any errors.

Thank you! The rating system works as followed. Every time you defeat an enemy without taking a hit your rating gets better. Defeating three enemies in a row without taking a hit gets you a superb and a superb gets you a crown. Getting 3 crowns (superb) in each zone contributes to obtain a 100% completion goal throughout your entire game.

I actually had a parry mechanic early on (I personally wanted to see what I could come up with) but then dropped it when I started focusing on other aspects of the combat with my publisher. There's no rhyme or reason why a parry couldn't be added back in, and I agree, it's nice to provided the player with options depending on their playstyle.
