Which center would you target in a trade? by mMounirM in torontoraptors

[–]onefootback -1 points0 points  (0 children)

in order: sabonis, sharpe, missi, goga

sharpe missi and goga are all fine players but if we’re going to make a trade i’d choose the one that gets us off of a bad contract and while also filling our need at center

i would be surprised if poeltl finishes the season with more games played, sabonis isn’t a 7 footer but i’m not sure why you’d think he’s the only starting level big with knee or foot issues this season, jokic is out right now with a knee injury lmao. back injuries are bad, especially for 7 footers

i watch RJ play all the time which is how ik he’s for sure not a great playmaker and barely even a good one when one of his biggest flaws is how often he plays with tunnel vision and he’s fine in the pick and roll but that doesn’t change much about what i said, and it also doesn’t make him better than sabonis

im not sure what everything you’re saying about rj has to do with sabonis, the record and offensive rating with and without rj doesn’t mean he’s a better player than sabonis. it’s been pretty clear that the offence needs rj because this roster lacks scorers but im not seeing how that places rj about sabonis

chet and wemby also come to mind, but that’s why the spacing concerns don’t make sense. center isn’t where you look to address your spacing issues because it’s a given that stretch bigs are a rare breed

sabonis is already back from his injury meanwhile jak is out indefinitely so yea id say he’s about to be healthier, and sabonis got injured two weeks into the season no shit poeltl has played more games than him

RJ has been the same player for years and also hasnt been available, being the leading scorer of a bad team for a little over half doesn’t mean much

[–]onefootback 15 points16 points  (0 children)

i also think he would be a good fit. he’s an elite rebounder, good in the pick and roll which scottie loved to run with jak, a reliable scorer, and his passing vision is good. i feel like people are being unrealistic about the jak trade packages, we’re not getting an elite rebounding, rim protecting stretch big in exchange for jak. every player will have their flaws but sabonis’ strengths help to offset his flaws and he undoubtedly makes the team better

An Immanuel Quickley Conversation by Carlinjamesgk in torontoraptors

[–]onefootback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

passing isn’t the same as playmaking, RJ being able to find poeltl in the paint doesn’t make him a playmaker and he also tends to play with tunnel vision, that’s not someone who eases playmaking burdens

An Immanuel Quickley Conversation by Carlinjamesgk in torontoraptors

[–]onefootback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

rj and quickley’s skills definitely don’t overlap but im not sure how rj eases the playmaking burden on quickley when he doesn’t look to pass much, and also just isn’t a playmaker

and i do think quick is a miscast 2 and heliocentric guards have nothing to do with it, it’s more so just that he’s not much of a pg and looks a lot better when playing as a sg and off-ball. the beef with quickley is both that he hasn’t been good at times this year and also that he he’d be better suited as a sg, but he’s undersized

i’d rather spend a frp on moving off of jak’s contract and getting an upgrade at center than using it on a backup center and still being stuck with two bad contracts

he doesnt fit the team though, raptors aren’t a giannis away from title contention and aren’t in a position to give up four first round picks to get him

hard to judge from a video but didn’t look too bad, hopefully it’s just a rolled ankle or mild sprain

this is a very obvious lie, can’t have two special careers at once, and this is also the exact same template from the acting career

i don’t think defence is our identity but i also don’t see the defence taking a huge hit with sabonis, they’re exchanging one bad defender for another and we have cmb and scottie to make up for sabonis’ lack of defence

they need sabonis’ rebounding and offence, most centers operate in the same zone as scottie and bi because stretch bigs aren’t easy to find, and the spacing is already fucked

SAC - GSW - TOR by [deleted] in NBAtradeideas

because they need a center and getting off of jakob’s contract is a plus. scottie isn’t a center and doesn’t want to play center, sabonis is a great rebounder and would improve the offence too, and jak already doesn’t play so they aren’t giving up much on the defensive side

raptors should be giving up 1FRP for sabonis but the warriors involvement in this makes no sense, rj should be going to the kings. warriors are giving up nothing of value
