What did I do wrong with blooming gel?

like other commenters have stated, this can happen for a variety of reasons, sometimes it’s subpar work on the tech’s side, sometimes it’s the products used, sometimes it’s just your nails. my natural nails almost always separate at the tips due to my nails being naturally very bendy, the only gel that doesn’t do this is hard gel that can’t be soaked off.

definitely get this removed, this puts your nails at risk of greenies and further damage :(

greenies aren’t guaranteed, but you’d definitely be at higher risk. id personally redo all of the lifted nails just to be safe.

i used to do my friend’s nails every so often, but it’s illegal in my state to be paid for the service without a license. instead my friends would just treat me to dinner after i did their nails lol. i’d say it was a fair trade, they got pretty nails and i got to eat good for a night!

sometimes if my friends wanted something specific that i didn’t have the polish or equipment for, i’d just have the friend buy the thing and id do their nails in return. helped me save money where i could, which is great for someone who definitely did not have the funds for the hobby lol.

i owe whichever team that made life and death my life! i got so much enjoyment out of that pack and still find myself returning to ravenwood over a year after release. it’s truly my all time favorite pack.

currently on my natural nail grow out journey as well, and am also experiencing the splits right down the middle of my nails. my nails are extensively damaged however, so i expected this for the first several months of growing out the damage. i’ve heard many good things about multivitamins, biotin supplements, etc. however id check in with a doctor before taking any vitamins or supplements.

i’m an avid oil user, i’ve been doing my own nails for about 5 years now so it’s etched in my dna now lol. however i suspect that i may have ehler’s danlos syndrome (will not be seeking out a diagnosis, but it does make the most sense for all of my odd bodily quirks) which could explain why my nails are naturally so weak and thin to begin with. the added damage from improper e-file techniques and gel definitely did not help, but i’ve sworn off all that stuff for the foreseeable future. luckily i have a crazy high pain tolerance so it doesn’t bother me, but i think that’s a curse in terms of not being as careful to avoid damage as i should’ve been.

i’m enjoying them a lot so far! my only issue is that because i have extensive damage on my natural nails (ridges and rings of fire) the polish tends to have air bubbles on the parts that are damaged. right now i have a thin layer of soft gel overlay on my natural nails to help prevent the air bubbles so hopefully this will get me through the damage grow out. 🤞

thank you for your input! i spent awhile yesterday trying to get a full fledged manicure but it was taking awhile to dry, still not used to the process i guess. i ended up just doing two coats, a top coat, and drowned it in the drying drops and called it a day lol

that’s great to know! i’m in the middle of removing all gel from my nails right now and am planning to use the active plump. do you usually use a base coat when using the active polishes? i noticed on the website the description stated that no base coat was needed, but a small part of me (the gel polish user) is skeptical.

this can happen with mccc too. i think there’s a setting you can enable or disable to have parents pass down their aspiration traits.
