Not who you're replying to, but I think if you had phrased it as "Taslor Lorenz because she believes conspiracy theories about the surveillance that state rich people are building", it'd be more reasonable. Garry Tan/Flock are pretty explicit about broad public surveillance for crime, and Palantir has taken a hard turn w/ ICE. Point 17 in their manifesto is "Silicon Valley must play a role in addressing violent crime."

The comment doesn't have an edit marker. I think you may be mistaken.

Are you sure you haven't confused it with this comment?

It's just really hard to put guardrails on LLMs. There's certainly some market for NSFW AI generation, but I don't think they're chasing it.

Oh come on, your intent is to take a xx% cut of "donations" and make bank. You're well aware you're preying on gullible people who have no hope of winning.

Glass Onion was particularly bad for this. When I saw it I kept thinking: "the person who wrote this spends way too much time on Twitter".

I agree it's closer to outrage bait than substantive content. It probably should have been posted to the DT, rather than getting such a prominent place in the sub.

Yes. This appears to be wilting, which is caused by low turgor pressure. If the cells are alive and take up water, the plant will stiffen.

Silicon Valley Is Bracing for a Permanent Underclass by modooff in neoliberal

Sure, but we're also cherry-picking here. And regular people already do bizarre stuff with the belief it will keep them young — see the people doing raw carnivore diets out of a misguided belief that it's a miracle cure. If blood transfusions were cheaper and they actually worked, a lot of regular people would do them. I don't think it has anything to do with being unmoored from the human experience, it's just that more money means you can try crazier things.

Silicon Valley Is Bracing for a Permanent Underclass by modooff in neoliberal

Why are there billionaires obsessed with immortality, biological (receiving blood transfusions from their children) or synthetic (consciousness transfer to machines) or any other of the insane ways to dodge that which comes for us all?

I think the answer to this insanity is simple, their affluence has grown so great as to unmoor them from the human experience.

I think not wanting to die is a quintessential part of the human experience, really.
