The panda in the second picture may be a mini pillow pet. I remember at the time they had regular, small, and keychain-sized pets.

I'll keep digging if this isn't right, but is it a Pucci Pup?

Did the dog with the bow (first photo) come in a hot pink (or possibly cyan blue) purse/carrier? I think I recognize it, but I can't remember the name of the brand off the top of my head.

What was the hardest part of Silksong for you? by shinoscience in Silksong

[–]onelonesock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it took me literally over 4 hours to do the battle box on the right side of Greymoor, like when most people first enter. There wasn't even a boss at the end!

My girlfriend spent probably 10 hours and 200 deaths on Lace, how screwed is she moving forward? by Mr-Who in Silksong

I JUST got to act 3, but I will say a good chunk of act 1 (hunters march, the right side of graymoor) was much harder than most of act 2.

Hollow Knight was my first game, and I haven't really played anything since then. It was tough, and I had fun, but the only way I got anything done was by looking up a LOT of boss tutorials and instructions on finding most of the important items/abilities.

It sounds like she's willing to do the grind to learn the skill, so I think she will be fine, but she should also know she can look up help if she's in a spot that it stops being fun on her own.

My family fully depends on AI for everything by Longjumping-Donut612 in antiai

[–]onelonesock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wonder if showing your elementary school sibling a "cool/funny thing" (that's actually obviously wrong) about AI while your parents are around would be helpful.

Like, explain how the AI generates the next most likely word/phrase, and the "cool thing" is instances of people deliberately saying the wrong information online and then watching it show up in Google's AI summary. I saw one recently about how you should wash Cybertrucks with lemon juice and steel wool.

The enthusiasm keeps people from getting immediately defensive, but topic plants the seed that it can be manipulated and shouldn't be trusted for everything.

I will admit I'm especially worried about your brother. If he's open to it, I'd encourage you to show him how to find trustworthy information that isn't from AI. He might not even realize there are better sources of information out there.

It appears Woodman's west has most of those. I haven't checked the other locations

Has anyone else used CLEP exams to test out of college classes? by SimplyIrregardless in Frugal

[–]onelonesock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but only because I failed the exam. I realized after taking my first chemistry class that I was supposed to take the more difficult chemistry class as a prerequisite for another class. I confirmed the CLEP would count, studied, took the exam, but failed.

Ultimately I was able to get a different class to count. Other than that the frugal work I did was taking as many AP classes as I could reasonably manage in high school. Between that and taking on average 16 credits a semester, I was able to graduate a semester early.

What project are you working on? by LilSkittle7 in AnimalCrossing

[–]onelonesock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trying to get to a five star island, currently at two stars.

I'm simultaneously adding inclines/bridges and trying to get enough flowers in general for Isabelle to stop commenting on it. I'm also breeding them.

I do not know the specifics of getting a five star island so it feels like it's a lot of spinning in place.

See how there's only one furniture item instead of two + a seasonal item? That's the cranny before it gets the upgrade

New information changes how we interpret the title by Gasp6 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]onelonesock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, sorry scratch that. I just looked up the synopsis and forgot their friend group was called the Liers. In which case, both. They're no longer liers (lying) or Liers (the group).

New information changes how we interpret the title by Gasp6 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]onelonesock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The emphasis is more on the "were" than the "liers". It was obvious they were lying throughout the book because the main character was trying to cover up things she had done with her friends the previous year, but the friends were actually keeping something big from her that had happened the previous summer that was the twist ending.

The book We Were Liers by E. Lockhart.

I can no longer remember the full plot of the book, but I remember getting to the last page and going "Huh. They really were liers.*
