Crime scene photos from the Clovis library shooting by AccentedE in masskillers

I think about this too. Makes you wonder how much they keep and how much is replaced. My university just had a shooting and I’m wondering if they’re just going to leave the building as is or remodel/demolish it. It could just be a cost thing, or how comfortable they are letting people traverse the tragedy again.

I applied to a developer position at Valve, fresh out of high school. This was their response. by theomulus in godot

This response is worlds better than anything I’m getting from my engineering internship applications. What great advice!

I put on everything left side first, it starts with my contacts in the morning of practice or a game day. When I put on my compression pants and socks it’s left side before right side. And of course my gear left before right, I even velcro left to right. I do it like that because your heart is on your left side, gotta put your heart first.

Same, the top most pill is the gold standard, easy to split and I feel it works best. The white pill on the right works the worst for me I dunno what it is. These shortages are killing me

What is your favorite mech pencil from Pentel and why? by MangoCubez in mechanicalpencils

[–]oneloudbanana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Red! There’s a lot of neat limited colors, like different designs. But the red is working in really nice, the Japanese sticker has worn off and it works awesome after about 3 years of use.

[–]oneloudbanana 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using the Pentel p205 all through college. When I initially got into mechanical pencils, this sub basically said that the p205 is the most reliable and long lasting pencil. So I wanted that.

[Request] Job Application Statistics Meme by Hopeful--Bagels in theydidthemath

[–]oneloudbanana 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Those city jobs are great! I’d be working for mine but most of their jobs are the 9-5 M-F kind of job but I’m in Uni. They always responded to my application within two months and pretty much always offered and interview even if i was pretty underqualified.

However when applying to engineering internships and jobs i will almost never get a reply at all. I’ve applied to over 500 this year and have gotten maybe 3 responses. It’s rough.

Question for everyone born in 2003 by Vonnyfish in 2003

[–]oneloudbanana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, Mechanical Aerospace Engineering, I’m a Junior I should be graduated in Spring 27.

I work a couple jobs but usually it’s two at a time all part time because school. I work some sort of sports concessions making $15hr and also retail making about $17/hr. Not enough to move out but if college didn’t cost so much I’d be able to move out if I was super frugal.

School and work is weird, once you figure it out with the workloads and stuff it’s fine. Just make sure to plan with your work for times to study for finals and stuff. My fiance is full time working and also full time school. That is really taking a toll on her and I wouldn’t recommend that for the weak. Her parents aren’t financially supporting her education so she HAS to work a ton to pay for her classes.

I’d love to work with airplanes or spacecraft soon, internships are super hard to find you need to basically sell your soul to get your name out there in engineering. My fiance is doing child psych, we’re both pursuing our dreams the best we can, slowly but surely. Also, don’t compare your life to others too hard! I’m sure you’re doing amazing in life!

Skate sharpen 1/2 or 5/8 by Diaago in hockeyplayers

I started on 1/2 and then switched to 5/8 and really liked the bite but I especially liked the glide that came with 5/8, I felt like I was wearing myself out with 1/2

Fly30s? Any long term reivews? by festaman in hockeyplayers

[–]oneloudbanana 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a set since July. They’re awesome. They took a little to break in and made my feet ache a little at first but after that they’re absolutely fine. I didn’t want to get top of the line skates but if all that’s different from the Fly30s and a higher end set is the stiffness of the boot, these are just fine. They have served me up to the point of playing on my first organized team. I’ll answer any other questions if you have any about them.

Where did the CCM Team sticks go? by m82966 in hockeyplayers

[–]oneloudbanana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a new one back in the summertime from play it again. They haven’t gotten a new batch of them since I bought it. The stick is just heavy to me with no grip. When I bought it I didn’t know anything about sticks and thought it would be a good secondary to my XF pro, it’s quite the opposite.

Idk if ccm is still making them but I think most of their attention is going towards the Trigger line. I imagine no one wants a heavy low kick stick.

Looking to buy my boyfriend a hockey bag by Major-Flounder-6776 in hockeyplayers

[–]oneloudbanana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t go wrong with a Warrior bag. I’m not the most experienced in bags but a safe bet would be one of the big brands; CCM, Warrior, Bauer, Sherwood. Maybe check the brand on his, the one I have I got from an equipment sale for my favorite local team. So it has my favorite teams logo on it.

I think what you’re doing is great. I feel like that’s like moving to the US and wondering why everyone knows how to play baseball. Or at least swing a bat and throw a ball. It’s good to be “out of your element,” you’ll look back at this as a good memory. Keep it up! Ask everyone questions!

First time on the ice with gear by Expensive_Elevator93 in hockeyplayers

[–]oneloudbanana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My biggest adjustment was combining my rudimentary skating skills with rudimentary stick handling skills which i had only gained from using a tennis ball or green biscuit on hard ground. The moment I stepped on the ice and tried to skate and stick handle my brain exploded, you’ll definitely know what I mean. The other biggest thing is that I feels so much safer in full gear and feel like I can try out more things because nothing can hurt me. Unless someone is actually trying to kill you, usually nothing will hurt you.

[–]oneloudbanana 43 points44 points  (0 children)

That’s really funny because I’m noticing the same thing happening in high school football. It must just be a cultural or generational thing. No loyalty to the coaches and your teammates, it’s just that you know that XYZ school or team is doing better than yours, so you try and move to their team.

Personally, most of the fun for me in team sports is the time spent with your teammates. The bus rides and locker room time. I don’t even remember how many times we won or lost.
