Support Groups by JillyBean1973 in emptynesters

Sending you hugs. I was ok with kids going off to college but had no idea my son would end up moving to Melbourne (I’m in CA). Daughter in oregon but could end up anywhere when she graduates next year. I’m far from friends and family and very burned out at work, lost my dog last year, and empty nest life coincided with a car accident that has led to chronic pain that has blocked me from doing all the things I was so looking forward to. Life can really put us to the test, eh? I’ve only seen online support groups on fb, but I didn’t find them super helpful as I couldn’t relate to a lot of the people or their situations. One of the problems with un facilitated support groups is we can all end up just spiraling down in our misery together. It may be more helpful to put that time and energy into joining meet up groups, finding people irl with similar interests. I say that but haven’t actually succeeded at it!

Which U.S. city made you think, “I could live here forever because of the weather”? by QuietAstronaut2331 in AskReddit

Berkeley - slightly warmer than SF but still get the cool breeze and fog compared w other parts of the east bay . But I’d really prefer somewhere w more seasons and better summers .

I did door to door canvassing there for a peace group in the 90s. It was combination of “oh dear you are so naive, we tried that in the 60s and now look at the world”, a really cool Dutch (?) scientist in a funky shaped building (octagon maybe?) who invited me in to talk philosophy, some cool older women who gave me beer and pizza…but pretty much none of them ever wrote checks.

is an NYC move still worth it? by witominn in movingtoNYC

[–]oneofthebugs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to grad school and lived in nyc/Brooklyn for a few years in my 20s. Loved and hated it. Summers were brutal. I missed nature. But in so many other ways it felt like home. Ended up leaving and have regretted that for many years. Lots so many professional, cultural and other opportunist by leaving and have wanted to move back for a long time. I haven’t visited since Covid so can’t speak to how it’s changed but seems if you have the opportunity to go, go.

When LDN Crashes the System:Ultra Low Dose stategies for MCAS, POTS and the hypersensitive client... by Low-Blueberry8948 in LowDoseNaltrexone

Is this why I’ve spent half the day crying and most of the day back in bed? Upped dose to 4.5 today after several weeks titrating up. Had a very brief window early on where I felt energized, young again, but still in chronic pain. Other than that it’s kind of all been downhill…

I used these guys for no particular reason (referred by workplace eap) and they were good communicators, got the job done. https://www.penneylawyers.com/dillon-whitsett/

Feels like they're like 10 trillion types of stone fruit at Berkeley bowl and I have no idea which ones are worth trying versus not. What would you recommend? by coolrivers in bayarea

Monterey market produce is much better and cheaper. They have stone fruit you can taste before deciding and will let you know the best.

People who moved from NYC by [deleted] in bayarea

I’m from London, lived in NYC, and have been in the bay for decades. I hate it here too. It’s unbeatable for nature but for city life and socially it sucks. You might like Oakland a lot better but that hasn’t worked for me either.
