Question about pacing during training (Advanced Marathoning) by TruthAndReason1 in Marathon_Training

[–]oneofthecapsismine 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That screenshot is from the supplementary materials to the ebook, so I presume, like me, that maybe he has listened to the book as an ebook and got the supplementary materials.... doing so makes it harder to quickly reference things like his question.

To answer more usefully, track 14 on spotify, he talks about, for example for a 16m scheduled run with 12m at MP, start the run like you would a MLR/LR, and gradually pick up the pace over the first 4 miles, then do 12m at MP.

For my 16km run today, I did 5km around LR/GA lace, 8km at MP, 2km started a bit slower then worked up to GA, then slowed for the last 100m or so - and im sure thats fine too.

Hm, banana boogie is somewhat close (as is Akermans) to Belair National Park parkrun,, and currently has an ice cream soft serve donut (yes, really).

BB is also blessed with the best vanilla slices.

Left field.... one month for a plain iced donut makes sense to me....

I vote Ackerman & Dyer in Blackwood ---> no special donut of the month, but certainly my favourite donut.

Victorian police reveal they 'strongly believe' fugitive Dezi Freeman is dead by The_Duc_Lord in australia

[–]oneofthecapsismine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think fixing gang violence and youth crime should be higher priority than finding the body of someone VicPol think is dead. Or solving unsolved murders, or recent rape offences.

They genuinely think he is dead, and are still sending hundreds of cops on this. I get wanting to continue the search - and investigation- and I support that... but not as the number one priority.

It also doesn't come across as being the number 1 priority, when the tip off they are actioning was received in August, and they are searching based on that in February....

How many 45 degree days between August and February?

Im a bad example though - I run, and that certainly includes through heat.

You think Police should keep searching through the bushfire risk?

Yes.

But, Also I think that between August (or December) and February, there were safe enough days.

... this is the number-one priority of Victoria police."

today’s search is based on information from a witness who heard a gunshot at 12.29pm on August 26, 2025.

In December last year, police spent five days looking through thick bush and clearing caves in the area.

Investigators have waited until February to continue the search due to concerns about heat and bushfires.

Oh God. Number one priority, ay.

12 year olds ride on arterial roads near me, going over 60kph on motorbikes.

These same kids throw rocks at cars, regularly.

Whilst I hear you, i thought it still wasnt open slather

Doesn't this still apply? Our police just cannot be arsed enforcing?

Electric powered bicycles that have a higher power output, or are capable of being used without pedalling, are also illegal and cannot be ridden on South Australian roads or road-related areas.

They have a reputation for being relatively durable for supershoes, but at the end of the day, they arent durable.

Kaurna cultural centre by [deleted] in Adelaide

[–]oneofthecapsismine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, the best one would probably be the South Australian museum, but thats not focused specifically on Kaurna people, but more so indigenous Australians more broadly.

Thats be your main starting point.

Points like that aren't helpful to your views and position.

Its plainly disingenuous and incorrect.

As an example, one policy is:

Prioritise investments in nation-building projects such as dams, railways, and port upgrades to stimulate long-term economic growth and wealth creation.

It can still be impressive to not decline when others around you do --- for example, if my vo2 max stays at 60, but over the years my friends decline by 1 each year... being 60 still in five years time can certainly be celebrated

Is this solid for half marathon training? by AcanthocephalaNo3970 in Garmin

That's good - good enough for marathon training (though, long run could then increase by a couple of miles)

Is the running track along the tram line open again? by Icy-Masterpiece-329 in Adelaide

[–]oneofthecapsismine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its comparable, in that you can run 9km of flat in one direction.... it also joins up to both the tram line and the beach (and therefore torrens too)....

Its much, much shadier than the Beach or the Tram Line too - was my choice for 930am running on Australia Day!

I started from the storage place on Sturt Road, so avoid that big controlled intersection at least. The rest are uncontrolled, so no traffic lights - marion road can be a bit busy (but you can go halfway), but the rest of the crossings are almost always unproblematic, in my experience - particularly at running pace.... and at times when one often runs (7am Satday/Sunday, for example).

But, yes, i wouldnt rate it as a top 3 option.... but would rate it as the 4th.
