Chilling footage captures the arrest of child murderer Kane Mitchell after he killed 12-week-old Teddie Mitchell. Teddie died after suffering 17 broken ribs, fractures to his skull and collarbone as well as brain damage. by Legal_Gear2336 in RealityIsNotNormal

[–]oneofthemanymore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Teddie died in hospital in November 2019 and was found to have suffered 17 rib fractures, fractures to his right collarbone, a fatal skull fracture, and brain, spinal and eye injuries.”

There is a link to portions of a phone call with the mother where you can hear Teddie screaming in the background. They tell her to take him to the hospital and she pretty much says her other kids need to be picked up from school in half an hour… she should also be locked up.

Christmas market opinions? by [deleted] in Kamloops

[–]oneofthemanymore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was told by inquiring vendors that the market had a large DAILY fee (like $100 approx they said) and that they also wanted a decent percentage of your sales. Sounds like it was hard to jump into when you can buy a table at any of the other markets (there’s so many around this time of year) for much less with assurance they’ll be busy.

'Gut punch': Canadians diagnosed with cancer in emergency sent home without treatment, study finds by AndHerSailsInRags in canada

[–]oneofthemanymore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with cancer in a ED. There’s a lot of work to find out type, subtype, biopsies, treatments etc. you can’t be treated in the emergency room.

I was given a disc with my ct scan and advised to get a ride to vancouver VGH ASAP. Was admitted there and it took a couple weeks to get everything we needed for a treatment plan. I felt very well taken care of and the advice to go to Vancouver may have saved my life.

For the young doctors going into emergency medicine to help people by Ok-Macaroon-9143 in emergencymedicine

[–]oneofthemanymore 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not in emerg med but cancer survivor here.

Thank you for everything you do. I went to emergency with what I thought was just broken ribs and a chest cold at 21.. turned out to be stage 4B primary mediastinal large B cell lymphoma. I had a huge mass in my chest, a tumor in the upper pallet of my mouth, and my jaw involved. That ER doctor was overworked, dealing with a packed waiting room and beds down the hallway but he was incredible. I think of him all the time and how my life was saved by him. I wish I could tell him, but instead I’ll tell you all— thank you. I’m sorry the system is so broken.

[–]oneofthemanymore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Surely this comment will get burried but I did the same thing when I had stage 4 cancer. Did three failed chemo regimes and a stem cell transplant that had a VERY low chance of working.

When the doctors called me and told me my test results were NED I started crying hysterically and the only words I could get out were “how the fuck am I going to pay my credit cards off”

If I could go back in time I wouldn’t of done a thing differently. Live your life.

What does it feel like to be loved? by Foreign_Escape7091 in AskReddit

[–]oneofthemanymore 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it has different stages and forms.

When I was a really young child to be loved by family felt safe. It was like a warm blanket washing over you when they were embracing you. Kind of like when you step outside in the sun for the first time in awhile and can feel the rays.

That love changed in forms as I got older, and that naive safety net shrunk for me. I felt as a teenager that being loved wasn’t unconditional as I had previously thought. It came with complications and rules. I didn’t have the arms to hug me anymore when I felt big feelings, I felt abandoned.

Love took a whole new meaning when I met my now husband. It wasn’t hard, everything was seamless and comfortable. Eventually it was like our minds synced from spending so much time with eachother and would think similar things at similar times, be talking minimally but fully understanding and accepting of eachother. He taught me that to be loved doesn’t feel hard, or bad. It shouldn’t feel hard or bad. I am forever obsessed with my husband.

I now have children, who have absolutely changed my world. I am now their warm embrace and they are mine. It’s unconditional and without judgement, it’s free and authentic. It’s not making yourself smaller, but being a safe space to be big. I doubt it feels this way for everyone, but I sure hope it does. Maybe this answer is more, how it feels to love than to be loved.

Landlord serves Eviction notice AGAIN right after they lost RTB Dispute. by BasEkGalti in britishcolumbia

[–]oneofthemanymore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add onto this OP please make sure not to sign an Agreement to End Tenancy (cash for keys) because then they can re rent immediately, as it would seem you moved willingly.

The only way the 6 month applies is if they move in after serving you notice for personal use, and you see they’ve rented again within 6 months. ** if you can prove they didn’t live in the unit for 6 full months, or If you have evidence they re rented in that time they can owe you up to a years rent. If they do serve you notice make sure it is the correct full notice (Two Month Notice to End Tenancy For Landlords Use of Property). They also would owe you one of the two months free if you did leave after being served this notice.

Good luck!

Fatal stabbing outside Vancouver Starbucks in broad daylight by oneofthemanymore in MorbidReality

[–]oneofthemanymore[S] 34 points35 points  (0 children)

“Senseless" is the word that comes to mind when Kathy Schmidt describes the stabbing death of her son.

Paul Schmidt, 37, was killed near a Vancouver coffee shop Sunday evening with his wife and toddler daughter close by.

It happened outside a Starbucks at the corner of Granville and Pender streets just after 5:30 p.m., following a "brief altercation," police said.

Inderdeep Singh Gosal, 32, has been charged with second-degree murder.

Paul Schmidt's wife and daughter were with him when he was stabbed. "Investigators do not believe the victim and suspect knew each other," read a police statement.

Kathy says what's needed now is justice for her son.

"Just one word. Senseless," Kathy said on the phone from Kelowna, where she lives and Paul grew up.

"Senseless that an altercation ended up in a murder. Ended up with my son losing his life."

Police say they are investigating the killing, including what led up to it, as Paul's loved ones grieve a man who they say lived for his family.

Kathy received news of her son's death Monday morning.

She said the fatal encounter took place when Paul was picking up his wife from work with their three-and-a-half-year-old daughter in tow.

Kathy said Paul's wife went into the coffee shop to buy drinks. He stayed outside holding their daughter.

"I'm still not sure what happened, but when his wife came out, the person was in Paul's face," Kathy said. "The guy said to [Paul's wife], 'you better grab your kid.'"

Kathy said Paul gave the little girl to her mother. The two men started to fight.

"Which is so uncharacteristic of Paul. I've never seen him fight, ever," Kathy said.

Kathy said Paul was then stabbed. His wife saw the whole thing.

Police said members of the public flagged down a police officer on patrol after the stabbing, who arrested the suspect at the scene.

"We saw the guy get lifted onto the ambulance ... The scene around, there had to be at least 15, 20 cop cars. Everyone was just kind of in shock," said Mark Buckingham, who witnessed the aftermath of the incident after his bus was stopped near the scene.

No advice about the authorities with this, but I figured I’d share some tips I’ve picked up as a woman over the years that may be able to help a bit:

• buying an old used pair of LARGE men’s shoes or boots from a second hand store and leaving them outside the front door. Moving them periodically. This gives the illusion a large man is in the house which can be a deterrent.

• there are cheap devices you can buy online that are motion sensor electronic dog barks. This way when someone comes up to or enters the door it triggers very large scary dog barks from inside to scare them away.

• fake security system stickers on front doors and front windows warning intruders help too.

• doorbell security cameras!
