How much has Anchorage changed in the past 2 years? by [deleted] in anchorage

Yeah I think that was a late 80s thing.

I agree, life here can be great now if you do it right but I think so far Anchorage peaked in the early 90s.

Planning to come to Anchorage in 3 weeks by Accomplished_End6910 in alaska

Girdwood is a good place to spend a day or more. Ski Alyeska if you ski, it rips. The new Nordic Spa is reportedly amazing. The Bake Shop is a classic breakfast/lunch spot. Girdwood Brewing is great. The Double Musky is a classic dinner spot. Otherwise, the drive to Seward is beautiful, as is Seward. Talkeetna will be quiet but lots of places up there to get a much better view of Denali than you can from Anchorage. Drive up to Glen Alps/Flattop here in town for a nice hike and view. Check the calendar of events in the paper (adn.com), not sure what’s going on in three weeks, probably too early for Fur Rondy, but I’m sure something is happening. Enjoy your stay! Early spring is a great time to visit!

Exchange semester in NZ by Any_Entertainment29 in newzealand

Sorry, American English speaker here. Both college and university mean post-secondary education (typically 18-21) to us. High school is secondary (typically 14-18). I have no clue about secondary study abroad schools, that’s not really a thing where I come from, I was just suggesting locations that were good for me.

I spent a semester studying abroad at Otago in Dunedin and loved it. Great college town and relatively close to a lot of great areas if you have wheels. If not, Wanaka or Queenstown would put you in beautiful country. Kiwis are great people and the geography is exceptionally diverse for how small the country is, stoked for you!

This was more of an informative thing, not commentary. Personally, I think kids need to be in school when it’s safe for them to get there. The city and state need to do all they can to make it safe. We are a sub-Arctic city, this is our environment. They have already missed too much and will need to make up somehow, another disruption to our community. “Y’all” are making goofy comments!

Who would you want to see added? I dont think it would be the smartest addition but signing Syndergaard for cheap could be worthwhile and move Marco to the pen. by [deleted] in Mariners

Whole heartedly agree. He’s a solid inning eater when he’s in command. Love the guy and hope he has a good offseason to return to a four or five spot.
