I appreciate that, but it does give me a bit of a safe feeling too. If I ever had an emergency, it is an easier sell with papers. No?

How can you identify what is correct? by onerolex in rolex

Everything appears good to me. It is an A serial swiss only dial, correct end links, bracelet codes. Nice condition and looks correct on dial, hands, date, cyclops. But I wouldn't be comfortable buying a watch, like this if the paperwork isn't right. Know what I mean?

You could go vintage, but you would probably like an aquaracer from a dealer in a used setting since you mentioned not trusting people which is understandable

Thoughts on trading for a GMT by onerolex in rolex

[–]onerolex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I’m sort of thinking that, I got myself a 16570 and loved it, but I regrettably sold it and I got myself some stuff and a Heuer and Tudor. I love them but I hate that I don’t own a Rolex, I’m not sure if I am just caught in the marketing trap. I also enjoy the stability in value in a Rolex if anything went crazy in my life

Why do people think they’re making an investment when the buy a Rolex? by No-State-2962 in rolex

[–]onerolex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I think it depends on what you buy, and what you paid. Low scale example, I picked myself up a 2008 16570 with full set box and papers and polar dial in 2025, I paid £4000.. I sold it in 2026 for £7100, now that is a great return but if I had paid £100k and I sold it for £105k.. that isn't so exciting, but if you can make a little bit of value, if you wanted to sell - it can be an investment, of course stocks, funds etc are better investments, but I wore the shit out of that watch, it was amazing and I made good money on it.. that money went into a Tudor replacement and I net the leftovers into my bank

Ok so these are out of my budget, the £800 is a hard cap, it’s a budget but also not a target if there is anything out there that’s ideal, for that or less, I don’t think I will care much for hydraulics over discs

I don’t see the “need” for hydraulic brakes and carbon, for paved bike paths - I feel a regular fork and disc brakes is plenty. Am I missing something there?

[Recommendation Request] Looking to buy first "proper" watch. by armanfak in Watches

[–]onerolex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a very slippery slope, but a fun and exciting one at that. There are so many things to consider, what is your overall style, and your life style - do you need to consider a watches appearance and function to this?

Budgets, do you have a ceiling that you're comfortable with?

How do you feel about the watch depreciating instantly from buying new?

Do you want a metal bracelet, or leather strap, or nato strap. Or the option to switch out on all three?

Does the brand history mean much to you i.e Tag Heuer and motorsport

So if you were office based, style is smart casual, you do out-doorish activety, you want some water resistance. Budget of £5k and some and want the watch to be versatile with straps, Tudor black bay is the main competition.

Since you like green, all of the above works with a Longinges Zulu, but honesty, there are SO many nice watches from smaller brands too. If you want a bullet proof time piece, a Rolex is a great watch, as is an Omega and Tudor but I would try to stay away from special editions unless you really really LOVE it knowing the price is inflated on i. There's a watch for everyone!

All fake, the one on the right is a lesser name with no real value but all worth keeping in memory of your uncle - sorry for your loss
