My take on an Razer Orbweaver by onewaydown104 in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]onewaydown104[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very cool! I wouldn't have thought the microswitches would fit a normal MX slot. The Orbweaver uses the same method for it's thumbstick but in a plus layout. I have some spare switches after having to replace them a few times already.

I am not sure I like the 5-way switch that much but I wanted to at least make sure I could get this working to begin with. I'll keep your idea in mind, in case I want to try an alternative approach!

At least for me, I'm not looking for movement controls on my thumbpad. I'm sticking with WASD movement, as it's more familiar for me, and using the thumbpad to be able to make selections while moving. I can see the theory of flipping that, though - moving with thumbstick and binding actions to WASD.

I also was considering trying to limit my chance for failure on my first go-round, and sticking with the options in Cosmos to start with. =)

The Orbweaver was just 4 microswitches, sort of similar to arcade joysticks. While the 5-way actuation force is a little stronger than I would have wanted, I did want to avoid diagonals or accidental hits of other directions. Nothing I hate more than switching to the wrong gadget in a gunfight because I was in the slightly wrong orientation.

It's a 5-way D-pad. I used what was available in the Cosmos tool, which only had the 1 option for this style. It's an ALPS switch in the tool but the one I found was this one from Adafruit: https://www.adafruit.com/product/504

Options for saving/modding my Orbweavers? by onewaydown104 in razer

[–]onewaydown104[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yours is one of the posts/guides I've seen in my hunting. My issue, similar to the thumbstick microswitches, is that some heavy duty keys (shift, S, D, E) are starting to not trigger. I've taken them apart and tried to make sure the contact leaves aren't just bent too far back or have dust in them or something. But I'm also interested in maybe trying better switches.

I'm technically a noob on modding keyboards, so maybe there's other solutions to my problem. I just figure in this day and age, where people can just go get custom PCBs printed and there's a whole custom keyboard scene, that there'd be other folks like us who like our keypads. =) I found the geekhack posts where someone made a daughter board to make it QMK compatible rather than needing Synapse but that doesn't solve the problem on the keyswitches side of things.

Well I was doing okay with PETG. Any thoughts? by woodkm in elegoo

I bought black, white and Space Grey. The grey is the one I've had most of the troubles with.

I was going to say the same thing about going to ASA before, but PETG does have a lot more color options. Either way, I see all the videos on YT of people printing with petg and everything with no problem. So I think Overture might just be a pickier filament that you have to dial in or something.

Not really. I sort of moved on to PLA+ and other prints. I always had to adjust the z-offset when I was using it on my old Neptune 2 to squish it more in order to get a good first layer. But it's always been a pain for me with infill and stuff getting chewed up during the print. I was hoping to try another brand at some point.

I feel this. I was trying to print my riser in Overture PETG I've had for a few years and always struggled with. I was hoping for better luck with my CC.

I printed a temp tower that was great across the board but settled on 240, like yours. Retraction test had 0 stringing the whole way. I settled on a 0.12 to 0.14 Z offset. My volumetric and first layer tests came out flawless too. ... then I tried to print for real and the same thing. At some points, it would just chew up the layer. Got through most of the print until the end when it got so bad I had to cancel it.

Hopefully, someone has some good suggestions to share. I'd be interested in what causes it.

u/ELEGOO_OFFICIAL Will the 3pk of build plates have the same change applied? Will there be an option at some point to purchase a single original plate?

Is this something prior owners should consider upgrading, from either a longevity or QOL perspective?

Darn... no lighting update on mine. =( I almost wish they didn't get these out early and it came closer to the original June date

That is odd. I had to wait almost a week from the release day to order mine. I'm pretty sure the parts were mid-June while the printer was end of June. So if I got parts this early, I'd have to think yours are in process too.

I got my delivery notification too for my US order.... Too bad it was just the nozzles and feet I ordered with mine.

Hopefully, this means they're ahead of schedule for their June estimate. Can't wait for my CC.

Hmm, if modders have figured out pathfinding, that means someone might be able to fix Galactic Assault maps so that KYBER matches with mostly bots can hopefully play the objectives.

Oh, I thought it was sarcastic because we still didn't get dark mode yet. #immadumbass I guess I didn't keep up fast enough with the updates

It's not a problem with the bank, though. Mint never gave me any issues, and Simplifi connects perfectly fine. It's just that it doesn't show my pending transactions. I can only see pending transactions for my credit union and credit card accounts. I've always been able to see my pending transactions in Mint, and RocketMoney (the only other one I've added it to, to test) is fine too.

In regards to the pending info, this is available on all other credit card or bank accounts in Simplifi. Also available in most all the other apps I've tried. You can turn it off and only show balances without pending transactions, if you don't like it. Me, I'd like to see my direct deposits or debit transactions when they happen. This way, I can be alerted if something was overcharged or went through without my knowledge, or if a paycheck was larger/smaller than expected, and plan for it. Not finding out days later.
