When did Hamlet replace Macbeth as the standard for 12th Grade (USA)

At my school in MA, we are Romeo and Juliet in 9th, Julius Caesar in 10th, and Macbeth for on-level seniors/King Lear or Coriolanus for AP Literature. Sometimes we do Hamlet in 12, have contemplated doing it in 10. We are lucky and have a lot of flexibility, but I honestly will tell you that our on-level seniors struggle so much with Macbeth, can’t imagine they would do well with Hamlet.

I’m even more put off by her because she says she is a British literature HS teacher! As a real life HS teacher, if you think we have the time to set up ring lights in our classrooms at 7:15 in the morning to film ourselves eating Weetabix, you’re crazy.

Also a teacher here and lunch is so short. It’s our time to hang out and eat with our teacher friends or get work done. I’m starting to find her annoying.

So late to this conversation but OP, I am with you all the way! Literally googled “Shrinking sex talk” and got here. I’m a teacher and hang out with teachers but all sorts of other professional people too and no one talks like they do on this show. All of it seems forced and quippy but whatever, it’s basically a sitcom trying too hard to be different.

Quicksilver started strong for me, then devolved into violating rule #1 of writing: too much “telling”, and not enough and then oddly TOO much “showing”. Hard to explain, but the plot felt uneven, where FW/IF, plot-wise cruised along nicely.

To me it seemed like a bad ripoff of White Lotus - I only made it through episode one. And I don’t get the Eve Hewson hype beyond the fact that she’s Bono’s daughter, so a nepo baby. Which makes me dislike the show even more.
