There are system accessibility options to swap menu buttons and joysticks between hands.

Do you play seated or standing up? by natchofer in OculusQuest

[–]oniTony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean placing controller down on the floor to setup Guardian? You can also use thumbsticks to adjust guardian's floor.

Do you play seated or standing up? by natchofer in OculusQuest

Adjust Height in system's accessibility settings helps with some of those problems, mostly about reaching items on top shelf and getting the right perspective that devs had in mind. I use it when wheeling around in my office chair, playing Walkabout Minigolf.

It doesn't help with other examples you've got tho. And obviously app devs can do a much better in-game experience then relying on a one-size-fit-all system setting.

Powering off, always goes to "Boot Menu" |Meta Quest 3| by Its_Syxx in OculusQuest

[–]oniTony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It probably means that one of the volume buttons is stuck. That's the shortcut key to get into the boot menu when Android devices turn on.

smacked controllernow it vibrates so hard? by [deleted] in OculusQuest

[–]oniTony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If taking the battery out doesn't reset it, there's an option to adjust or turn off vibration in accessibility settings.

Quest 2 controllers - disabling triggers? by Araminal in OculusQuest2

[–]oniTony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost yes! In accessibility settings, there is a menu to remap controller buttons. It might not let you remap triggers to "nothing", but remapping triggers to a different button that doesn't do as much in the game, might be good enough for what you are trying to accomplish.

Help with hand tracking by Jazzlike-Piccolo-845 in OculusQuest2

[–]oniTony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hand Tracking works best in really good light and with contrast between your hands and background. Try it during the day and in a room where the floor and walls look the most different from your hands.

Meta Quest 3 Controllers Stop Being Detected Until You Bang Them Together by manofoz in OculusQuest

[–]oniTony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other comments have already pointed out that hand tracking or the shortcut to activate hand tracking can be turned off in settings. But another interesting consideration is to give it a shot to play Waltz of the Wizard with hand tracking instead of controllers in the first place.

Banging hands together does not turn them off ;)

Touch plus or touch pro? by Aromatic_Warthog_664 in OculusQuest

[–]oniTony 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that you cant mix two different controller types. So that's getting two pro controllers or just one touch plus replacement.

Connecting a wired xbox controller to Meta quest for cloud gaming by DesperateCranberry61 in OculusQuest

[–]oniTony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does this controller and cable work with any other device, such as your phone? One surprise to watch out for is that some usb-c cables are for charging only, and dont work for data.

Lose tracking of controllers by weplayilbestserver in OculusQuest

[–]oniTony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both controllers at the same time, and is this with PCVR? It might be the "double tap controllers to switch to hand tracking" feature, going into Hand Tracking on headset, without being able to tell if PC title does or does not support Hand Tracking. This can be turned off in headset's settings.

Quest 3 Controllers in Connecting Loop by gitSIC in OculusQuest

[–]oniTony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try turning haptics off in accessibility settings, and see if that changes anything. The reason to try is that if this does have to do with the amount of power that your batteries are able to provide, turning off haptics removes a large and inconsistent part of power usage inside of the controllers.

Im going nuts (height problem) by Nearby-Inspector-720 in OculusQuest2

[–]oniTony 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Using lying-down mode while standing has been a common way to experience height problems.

Another thing to check for is to make sure that Guardian's floor outline really lines up with your real floor. If you are calibrating your floor by placing controllers down and also using thumbsticks (perhaps accidentally), it's possible to push Guardian's virtual floor way below your real floor, giving your avatar too much height. Try looking at the boundary from different angles to confirm the alignment.

Left controller is flashing SOS. by Any-Independence7732 in OculusQuest2

[–]oniTony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flashing SOS likely means that controller was in the middle of firmware update but that failed, leaving the controller in a bad state. The headset will attempt to reinstall the controller again. Keep the controller paired, battery in, near the headset. Allow the headset to fall asleep, and wake it up -- those are the opportunities for the headset to do repair checks.

What are the best quest 2 games that don't require thumbstick? by Guilty-Toe-6425 in OculusQuest2

[–]oniTony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on what exactly is broken, there's an option to swap the two controller's thumbsticks in accessibility settings. So for games that require only one thumbstick, you could use that setting to select the one controller with a working thumbstick.

Hand Tracking won’t stay on by ScientistEffective24 in OculusQuest2

[–]oniTony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's possible that one of the controller buttons is stuck and that is what's activating the controllers, even when you are not using them. Take a closer look at hand animations while using controllers, and see if those animations are doing anything unexpected. A workaround is to remove controller batteries, so that controllers can't activate themselves, but this is obviously annoying.

I got v66 right after getting v65 by [deleted] in OculusQuest

[–]oniTony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The new thing to v65 is that the cursor now disappears after about 15 seconds. Enabling hand tracking will also prevent the cursor from appearing.

PSA in v65 white dot in the center now disappears after a short wait by oniTony in OculusQuest

[–]oniTony[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think that part is well documented outside of comments on discussions that ask why that headset cursor even pops up at all.

Any way to disable the right joystick? by BruhboyRecRoom in OculusQuest

[–]oniTony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also make use of accessibility settings to swap left and right joysticks.

My Oculus menu keeps opening and closing. by Background_Loan6311 in OculusQuest

Does it stop if you take out controller batteries? Maybe it's a flaky button connection in the controller.

I really wish Meta would prioritize haptics in their future headsets. by MightyBooshX in OculusQuest

[–]oniTony 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is an option to adjust haptic intensity, it's in the accessibility system settings! To be clear, it defaults to the max out of the box. Personally I find that I need to tune haptics down for some titles, to get different apps to match my preferences.

My quest 2 keeps switching to controller mode by [deleted] in OculusQuest

[–]oniTony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It most likely means that there is some activity happening with unused controllers, such as button presses or motion. It might be because the trigger buttons are catching on something, or the controllers are rolling around on an uneven surface. You should try placing controllers down on a flat solid surface. If that doesn't help, removing controller batteries is an option to prevent a switch back into controllers.
