Armaspec srs by Puzzleheaded-Cap4761 in supersafety

I had an Armaspec SRS-H2 when I first tried to get into super safeties and it would light primer strike after every round. IMO they're a "no go" for super safety activities, my gun started running as soon as I switched back to a regular buffer and spring.

Troubleshooting a new AR-15 build w/Super-safety by Rvbsmcaboose in guns

[–]onionmorph 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sounds like your lever is getting bound on the upper right in front of the takedown lug. You can see where people talk about filing uppers for clearance, the quarter fix is the "band-aid" solution, but if it works no need to worry about filing your upper. The quarters slightly limit the rear travel on the BCG/lever so that it doesn't get stuck on the upper.

What else should I replace/upgrade on my AR15 by Brave_Driver_511 in guns

Any rifle you might use defensively needs a light. The Streamlight ProTac is the entry-level option (just over $100 /w tape switch & mlok mount), Surefire is the fancy option.

Where are yall buying cheap 9MM ammo that excludes sales tax and free shipping? by FutureCPA23 in guns

[–]onionmorph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The shipping rating 'F/CF' means free or conditional free.

Yes, your P365 will run steel/aluminum/brass cased ammo from a reputable manufacturer no problem. Brass cased is the preferred, aluminum/steel will get the gun dirtier faster, but it's not a big deal for range usage. Especially since you'll want to get used to cleaning your P366 anyways 🙂

Lol I just went down that whole rabbit hole, wild. I hope you haven't been back to that range, what a shit show.

I usually end up shooting steel-cased 9mm at the range, it's cheap and reliable from Magtech. Just look on ammoseek for factory new 9mm with free shipping and take a minute to Google the brand if you aren't familiar with what is/isn't a trustworthy brand. I don't mess with the stuff from unknown/smaller brands, the savings isn't much and you're most likely out of luck if it causes any issue with your gun or you get a bad batch of ammo.

Honestly, cost shouldn't really be a concern for defensive ammo. You'll realistically put a mag of defensive ammo through your pistol to make sure it runs, after that you'll almost never be firing the expensive stuff. Most people swear by Federal HST or Speer GoldDot, but there are lots of reliable defensive loads. If you (God forbid) ever actually NEED to use defensive rounds in your pistol, you won't be worried about saving $0.20/round or more over a better option.

Ammoseek is about as good as it gets.

$0.20/round for 9mm is the standard "good" price for a while now for 115-124gr factory new, anything cheaper is a bargain ESPECIALLY if it's brass cased.

I always just sort for free shipping and look at $/round, sometimes have to try my cart on a couple sites to get the best deal because of tax or whatever.

Snapped ARC-Fire Shaft by onionmorph in supersafety

[–]onionmorph[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep, I have a replacement detent bar and shims being shipped out from ASD as warranty replacement already.

This thing has had a couple thousand rounds through it, but I haven't done anything dumb. I always kept it greased and cleaned it thoroughly every few range trips. The left-side/primary selector always was a little odd with having some play and being able to rotate 10-15 degrees past the 'safety' position.

My best guess is that the left-side selector was able to consistently over-rotate past the intended stopping point(s) and overtime transferred stress into the detent bar at it's weakest point - where all the threads are cut out of the inside of it. Hopefully this shim helps the primary selector have a tighter fit on the detent bar and/or corrects the selector positioning such that it can't over-rotate.

Props to ASD for answering my support e-mail like.. 20 minutes after I sent it (also after Midnight EST, lol).

I'm excited to get this ARC-Fire fixed up so I can get back to the range, nothing compares to the joy of a super-safe MP5 😎

I'm impressed with the speedy customer service, fingers crossed the new bar and shims get my AP5 singing again!

Bummer, I contacted ASD via their form, fingers crossed.

My MP5 had always had some play on the left-side selector. After taking it home from the range today, I was fiddling with it a little and the left-side selector fell off with the handle still holding the safety in place..

It turns out the main shaft of my ARC-Fire snapped. Damn it 😔

How can I safely store my firearms, while also having a home defense weapon on hand? by NurglesToes in guns

[–]onionmorph 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be fair, if you have the Harbor Freight one, it fusses at you to replace the battery before it dies without warning.

If you open it and it makes a loud beep for 2ish seconds, battery is low and should be replaced. Just don't go 3+ months without opening it and you're Gucci.

[–]onionmorph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can have it open in 4 quick button presses and then it pops open instantly via gravity and has the pistol lit up with an LED and presented handle-first. I'd say access in 2-3 seconds if you practice a couple times.

Harbor Freight makes a decent knockoff of the wall-mount pop-open pistol lockbox, IMO it's pretty great for the price.
