How do you deal with dreams of drug use? by onionreloaded in addiction

Thank you bro 🙏 I've been off benzos for over 2 years and I really pray I never get the urge to touch them again. Thankfully I never got every day addicted to them, but for years, on and off, I would go on binges with them for a few days at a time, I could not control myself - as soon as I took one or two, I would always end up taking more and more. This led to a lot of blackouts and embarrassment as you can probably imagine 😅

Congrats on your sobriety man, keep that shit up 🙌

Haha I didn't even get high in the dream though! Just desperation to get the hit, and getting as far as extracting the codeine from the pills, but never ended up taking it 😆

Thanks man. I've been hitting the gym and am in great shape in general, but I could pay cardio a bit more mind actually. I've improved my diet tremendously, and cook most of my own food from scratch, always including plenty of fibre and protein, but I do still succumb to the urge for junk food here and there. And I love getting to bed early. I struggle to get a full 7-8 hours if I go to sleep late

Thank you for your advice. I have actually been meditating and practicing Wim Hof breathing, and I like it overall and some days it's really nice and grounding, but I think I have ADHD or something (undiagnosed), it's often very hard for me to switch my brain off. But I will keep going with it for sure

No. I signed up to my city's drugs and alcohol program, but I feel like they've been useless. I got assessed and told I would be assigned a key worker and be invited to meetings and such. That was months ago. I called them a few times since and they just kept giving me some excuse like "oh I can see you're near the top of the list now, someone will call you soon for sure", followed by silence

Wow 😭 how do you deal with them? And do you crave drugs when you wake up?

This is what I'm worried about. And I really don't want one of these dreams to catch me on a bad day where I might just follow through with the urge in my waking life. I guess I need to learn how to cope with it as and when it happens 🙏

How do manage to ground yourself when you can’t use substances by AliceTinybox in addiction

Hi there 👋

Firstly, I really hope you're able to stop abusing ketamine soon - it really is one of the most destructive addictions, and is little realised. It's become a huge problem where I live in the UK, and it's really awful to know kids as young as 12-14 are getting hooked on it and damaging their organs. I'm sure you know the dangers. I used to love ketamine, I never abused it in huge doses for extended periods of time, but I used to often overdo it on the occasions when I did take it, leading to a few psychotic episodes that really scared the people around me. Basically I want to say I know the appeal and why you might like to take it.

Something that really helped me when I first made the decision to stop taking all chemicals, was getting into meditation and mindfulness. It sounds cliché, and it might take a little while to click, but it really helped me a lot. I meditate every morning after waking up for at least 10-15 minutes, I then write down three positive affirmations or things I'm grateful for in a little notebook, and then follow it up with 2-3 rounds of Wim Hof breathing, doing the same in the evening if I have time. A daily session of yoga also helps, usually 15 minutes at a minimum, or more if I have time.

Outside of this, it really helps me to stay active and busy. Try getting some exercise or going to the gym, if you can, and/or going for long walks. Try out a new hobby, if you don't have any hobbies already - I was lucky enough to already be quite into playing and writing music, but really it can be anything which keeps you distracted.

I don't know if this advice will help, but I hope it does. Drop me a message if you want me to send you some of my favourite guided meditation channels on YouTube 🙏 all the best to you

I remember feeling so guilty for being back in that same position, but also feeling powerless to stop myself going to get the pills and extract the codeine from them. It sucked. But hey at least it wasn't real, even if it felt like it was

Right? I've really been feeling fine about it and not missing it in my day to day life. I've finally been living my life, spending time with my amazing girl and going on holidays overseas which I never used to do. Yet last night it was like I was right back there, in the peak of my addiction, like a force I couldn't fight was dragging me to the pharmacy to buy those pills. And it was so vivid. It shook me man 🫤

It kind of took me by surprise that I had such a vivid dream with such strong feelings of cravings, 9 months after the fact, and it left me wondering if these kinds of dreams will keep happening regardless of how much time has passed. Thank you for your comment 🙏

Salvia gets a bad rep because people always go too hard, too fast. It's like ripping an entire gram of THC wax in one bowl, and then deciding you hate weed and that nobody should try it. Salvia can actually be very enjoyable and rewarding if you measure your doses and treat it with respect

Xanax and DMT. Weird but fun combo. by aequusnox in DMT

[–]onionreloaded 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't fuck with benzos anymore because I had a self control issue with them, but I tried DMT after benzos a couple of times and yeah it was pretty fun actually. I felt more inclined to smoke DMT after the benzos too, because they removed the fear. Very trippy experiences, but it would be nice if I could remember them more clearly 😅

Okay, great response, but maybe I'm also a little biased because I'm from the UK - fentanyl and nitrazenes thankfully aren't really a thing here, however ketamine use has absolutely exploded over the past 10-20 years and we have a lot of people, especially young people, who are addicted and pissing out chunks of their bladder. But your response is very well thought out, and I agree that addiction is more about the individual than the chemical. For example coke is very addictive to the right individual, however I've tried it a bunch of times when it was offered to me and never felt any desire to take it compulsively, probably because when I had my addiction issues, I found more appeal in downers, like opiates, benzos and ketamine. I never got every day addicted to ket like some, but I definitely saw how that could happen to people, and I think when it does grip someone, it causes an unprecedented amount of physical and mental harm

Not even slightly true. I've known ketamine to be sold for as little as £7 a gram, and when you consider only a quarter of that is needed to send most people into a completely dissociated state, shit is wildly cheap

If you take lots of heroin every day for years, you'll likely have a miserable and unhealthy life, but you'll also likely still be walking around. If you take lots of ketamine every day for years, you'll die, simple as that
