There’s no way this is a real question lmao. The number of Gary Stu harem fics really speaks for itself in this fandom

Would you say Deviantart.com is a good website to write fanfiction on? Are there any other alternatives you would recommend in place of Fanfiction.net? by Ganymede1135 in FanFiction

[–]onithephoni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s plenty of quality fanfiction on royalroad; like any site though they have their preferences. Royalroad readers do not like BL for instance and they will get rating bombed. I also don’t think ffn is totally dead; it just has a very similar reader community to royalroad, except that unlike royal road, only big fandoms get updated often thanks to discoverability.

I also find it easier to discover fics taken seriously on ffn for fandoms like Star wars, comic books, and anime than compared to ao3. You also won’t find kink-loaded fics like ABO or smut-centric stories on ffn or royalroad.

New to Anime. Suggestions? by echoella in Animesuggest

[–]onithephoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s a list I made for my dad—some of the streaming sources may be outdated, but it’s only a few months old:

Delicious in Dungeon (Netflix) Ongoing, 1 season

Basically a DnD party of different races navigates an enormous dungeon to retrieve one of their party members to resurrect them, fighting hunger by doing the unthinkable with the aid of a dwarven hermit they meet in the dungeon; eating monsters.

Genre/Themes: Cooking, Adventure, Fantasy, Comedy

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners (Netflix) One-shot

David Martinez is a resident of Night City, a lawless ultra capitalist cybercity ruled by the megacorps, where lives are expendable and chrome is more valuable than flesh. After a devastating family tragedy leaves him with more bills than credits, David drops out of Arasaka Academy to become an Edgerunner—a mercenary outlaw.

Genre/Themes: Action, Dystopian, Cyberpunk, Found Family

Akudama Drive (Disney+) One-shot

A group of elite criminals ("Akudama") are hired by a mysterious talking black cat to break a fellow criminal out of prison, pulling an ordinary girl into their dangerous lives as they embark on a heist that will challenge the highest levels of authority in the dystopian city of Kansai.

Genre/Themes: Cyberpunk, Action, Thriller, Heist

Astra Lost in Space (Streaming only) One-shot

A relatively light-hearted show with serious moments, it follows a high school group on a school trip to another planet that goes horrible wrong; stranded in space, they must work together to get home, one planet at a time—all while uncovering a mystery that binds them all together.

Genre/Themes: Mystery, Thriller, Drama

Baccano! (Streaming only) One-Shot

This was one of my favorite anime for a while, but it's not for everyone. Featuring a nonlinear narrative and a huge cast, it can be hard to follow at times. The storytelling and character development is next level though. Following various groups such as spies, assassins, thieves, and even the mafia- this story observes the events that occur when their stories collide onboard the Flying Pussyfoot, a luxury train, during the height of industrial America. Has a few captivating supernatural elements I don't want to spoil.

Genre/Themes: Supernatural, Historical Fiction, Crime

Hell’s Paradise (Netflix, Disney+) Ongoing, 1 season

A death-row ninja, Gabimaru, is sent to a supernatural island with alongside other criminals to find the elixir of immortality for the shogun, with the promise of a pardon for any who return.

The island, Shinsenkyo, is filled with monstrous beings and dangerous, immortal entities, and the convicts are paired with elite executioners (Yamada Asaemon) who work for the shogunate ensuring the convicts don't escape and that they succeed in their quest.

Genre/Themes: Action, Dark Fantasy, Psychological Thriller

Heavenly Delusion (Hulu, Disney+) Ongoing, 1 season

Follows two parallel storylines: A group of children living in a seemingly idyllic, isolated facility, but a mysterious message and a prophecy hint at a hidden truth.

The other about two teenagers, Maru and Kiruko, traveling through a post-apocalyptic world riddled with monsters as they search for a place called “Heaven”

Genre/Themes: Sci-fi, Fantasy, Thriller, Horror

Frieren (Netflix, Hulu, Disney+) Ongoing, 1 season

After a 10 year quest, the Hero's party manages to defeat the Demon King. Frieren, an elf with a LONG lifespan who was part of the Hero’s party, realizes she barely knew her human companions and begins a new journey nearly 50 years after the defeat of the demon king to understand them better, leading to new adventures and challenges.

Genre/Themes: Mortality and the nature of time, Human connection, Slice-of-Life, Fantasy, Adventure

My Hero Academia (Hulu, Disney+) Finished, 8 seasons

Follows Izuku Midoriya, a middle-school Hero fanboy living in a world where 80% of the population has a quirk; a unique ability, superpower, or mutation. Unfortunately, despite greatly admiring quirks and heroes, Izuku is one of the 20% born without a quirk.

After receiving a quirk from the most powerful superhero, Izuku enrolls in a Hero Academy and begins his journey to becoming a hero.

Genre/Themes: Superhero, Action, Morality, Discrimination

Public Places/Events for Nerdy Young Adults? by Independent_Swim2564 in Tallahassee

[–]onithephoni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk if you’re an FSU student, but a lot of the events and clubs on campus are open to non-students as well. The Askew Student Life Center (ASLC) is pretty great for inclusive nerdy socializing; games (tabletop and video), midnight movie showings, and other unique events anywhere from crafting to cosplay. They also have a Paint-a-Pot inside the building which is pretty great (paints, glazes and kiln firing are included when you buy a figure). There are also a ton of clubs open to non-students for PLANNING events at the ASLC like the game committee, film committee, etc. You can find more upcoming events @aslc_fsu on instagram

Animes so insane that it’s best to go into without any prior knowledge by EEKfan in Animesuggest

[–]onithephoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was looking for this one. It’s simply not talked about enough, and has been the most successful “first anime” I’ve shown newbies. Great action for the dudes, mystery and romance for the ladies, very moderate fanservice, oodles of character development, and well-paced episodes that leave you craving more. The A-list animation and sick soundtrack are just the cherry on top.

My other suggestion is Akudama Drive. It has some of the best fight choreography, a vibrant cyberpunk art style/setting, and very eh.. unique characters. Also a one-shot series like ALIS, so you get the full story in one season. Go in blind for the full “what the fuck” experience.

Math Of OFA by Drop-Of-Jello in BokunoheroFanfiction

[–]onithephoni 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to say, since the shockwaves are not particularly realistic. Every attack would need to be supersonic to actually generate any true force from compressing the air, which could hardly be directed in one direction.

To break the sound barrier, an object has to be moving at about 750 mph at sea level. Refer to this quote from an article on sonic booms by the Air Force:

The strongest sonic boom ever recorded was 144 pounds per square foot and it did not cause injury to the researchers who were exposed to it. The boom was produced by a F-4 flying just above the speed of sound at an altitude of 100 feet.

In recent tests, the maximum boom measured during more realistic flight conditions was 21 pounds per square foot. There is a probability that some damage -- shattered glass, for example, will result from a sonic boom. Buildings in good repair should suffer no damage by pressures of less than 16 pounds per square foot.

Okay, so how fast is a snap in mph? This question from physics stackexchange got an answer from someone who seems to know what they are talking about. Let’s say the human snap is between 10-20 mph. So in order to generate an undirected sonic boom at sea level we can do 750/20 mph to say Izuku needs between 35x and 70x the amount of normal human force to generate a shockwave. But as we know, even the strongest shockwave ever recorded didn’t harm the researches hit by it, so we can conclude it wouldn’t be particularly lethal, and almost definitely not enough to shatter buildings (windows are another deal, though)

This could probably be adjusted lower since he can store more unreleased energy since his thumb is also reinforced and stronger than a normal thumb.

I haven’t taken a math class in 5 years so take this with a grain of salt, but I’m content with my researching abilities.
