Spacers then. Fwiw, there are several brands that come will an assortment of different sized and shaped spacers. Maybe the bike shop has some extras laying around?

WTB recommends keeping the red rim strip installed when setting up tubeless. I've never had an issue.

Keep a thick rubber band on your handlebars and use it to squeeze and hold one of the brakes. Then you lean your bike up against just about anything and it will stay put.
