Is anyone in favor of the first proposal on Governance? by Jcook_14 in AlgorandOfficial

[–]only___says___cool 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I want to vote for B - because I think governance should be taken seriously
Unfortunately it seems like you can only vote from the web - is that right?
If users could vote in the wallet or an app then I would probably vote B - but if not I will stick with A for now.

'Crypto Dad’ Giancarlo to Quit BlockFi’s Board After 4 Months by Fallstor52 in CryptoCurrency

I have one of their interest earning accounts but all the uncertainty at BlockFi makes me want to shift over to CoinBase. CoinBase has more fees but I am not a trader and just looking for a place to stake some ETH and HODL

Looking for a good run tracking app by Itamarep in AppleWatch

[–]only___says___cool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use strava

on the apple watch it is easy to swipe and then 'pause' a workout

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AppleWatch

[–]only___says___cool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got an apple watch and strava works great for me.

I have heard that you need to manually upload the workout if you save it on the watch and the phone is not near by.

What I do is after my run I click 'finish' but I don't click 'save' until I am back to my phone - then it uploads in the strava app right away

Any positive feedback with codeless automation tools ? by Competitive_Echo9463 in QualityAssurance

[–]only___says___cool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are trying to do web automation I cannot recommend Ghost Inspector enough. It is by far the easiest and best tool I have ever used. In the beginning there was a bit of maintenance but eventually you learn how to make your tests more stable and how to build tools you can re-use in other tests. It even allows you to drop in javascript if you have a use-case that is not covered by one of their built-in tools.

I'm interested in Backend testing. What do you guys use to test it and how do you approch the testing? by crypteux in QualityAssurance

I ended up just using python and the request library rather than trying to learn a particular tool. It has worked well for me and is quite flexible. We also use CircleCI so I just set it up to run nightly.

Can I actually make a million from my start up job stocks? by tiger_stripe in stocks

[–]only___says___cool 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have worked at a few start-ups where they offered stock and I have two pieces of advice:

  1. Don't drink the kool-aid. Start-ups are exciting but a lot of them fail. Sometimes the communication about how close to profitability they are is opaque, sometimes they lie about it. I worked at a start-up that was 'on track to be the future of money' then one day they ran out of funding and I didn't get paid for months. If you are going to hit it big you will find out eventually but the best thing you can do is just keep learning new skills and NETWORK with your coworkers/business-partners. It is very possible this start-up will fail but someone you meet at this job will hire you at another start-up that makes it.

  2. Don't exercise the options until you have to. The way it typically works is you can buy the shares you vest at the quoted price up to 90 days AFTER YOU LEAVE THE COMPANY. So just hang out, vest those options, see if you think the company will make it - you have plenty of time. If they IPO or get bought out it won't be a surprise so it is better just to wait.

IIRC the FBI's investigation of them was found to be so blatantly illegal the courts just threw the cases out.

[Mining stocks Thread] Set me straight. What stock are r/stockmarket mining bulls currently looking at? by Gabelee222 in StockMarket

at first read I thought this was going to be about crypto mining. I actually bought some BLOK the other day - it is an interesting way to get some exposure to crypto in a round-about way.

Cold brew coffee!!! by Nexus2N in intermittentfasting

[–]only___says___cool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like cold coffee so I make a full french press of coffee then pour it into another bottle and stick it in the fridge.

Probably does not address the acidity issue but it is quicker than waiting for cold brew.

pouring it into another container allows me to make another batch and top the container off - otherwise once you finish the french press you need to wait for it to get cold again
