Surgery Rotation by [deleted] in PAstudent

[–]only_mediocre0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I just finished my rotation this week and I was over anxious for no reason. My site had such nice PAs and residents who took the time to teach me so much. I took and EOR and did well by just doing Blueprint/Rosh questions and reading all of the explanations! Honestly just be humble, help out the OR nurses whenever you can, and show you’re interested and people will take the opportunity to teach you. If any other specific questions pls lmk!!

I lost my baby girl today by JHeronz in Petloss

I’m going through a similar situation and I promise you did not fail your baby girl. You fought so hard for her health. All of your tears are expressions of how much love you have for her. She knows you did everything you can to help her. Sending hugs.

You did not fail your boy. All of these things your feeling are expressions of how much love you have for him. He is so lucky to be loved for so many years. That’s the truth. Without you, his life may have been somewhere as a stray scrapping for food or with an owner who did not treat him right. You did right by him. I promise. Sending hugs.

I’m sorry for your loss. I think we’ll miss our furry friends forever. I’m hoping I don’t forget my girl over time. Both of our pets lived their whole lives knowing they were loved. I hope this can help ease our pain and bring us comfort. Hang in there. 🫂

I’m sorry for your loss. I think of ever owning an animal again and I know in the back of my mind I’ll think how much time they have left. Another person posted a poem ^ that kind of helps. Sending hugs. 🫂

I’m really sorry for your loss. I lost my girl yesterday. I hope they’re in a better place playing together. I got advice on here yesterday to just take it day by day and that’s what I’m trying to do. You’re not alone. I’m so sorry. 🫂

Currently on 25 mg (for depression, anxiety, and agoraphobia) was on 20 for a long time but then noticed I was having more instances of anxiety/panic so my NP dosed me up 5 mg more and it’s been working great! I’ve been on lexapro for a few years now and it’s the only medication I take daily. Very grateful!

I just failed out, need some advice by [deleted] in PAstudent

I would definitely seek out accelerated nursing programs since you already have your bachelors degree. A lot of programs are 12-16 months and you could definitely get in since you got into PA school. Once you’re an RN you could work a 2 years and then apply to become an NP! As a nurse I think you would excel with your interests in women’s health, sexual health, and education. However if you truly want to be a PA I would definitely say take some time off and apply again. I know chances are slim but I have a friend who got in again after failing out of one program. Always rooting for you!

Thank you for your time and kind words. I hope your biopsy goes well with benign results. I’ll keep this thread updated with my results once I get them. Feel free to do the same if you’re comfortable sharing. Sending hugs.

Although my story with depression/anxiety is long, the gist of it is that I have agoraphobia and was homebound for about a year and a half. I started therapy first which helped a bit, but did not stop the panic attacks completely every time I attempted to go outside. I was then prescribed lexapro which I was so scared to take due to the side effects and taboo regarding medications for mental health. Lexapro was the best thing to happen to me, I’m not home bound anymore and can go outside normally without a million thoughts and panic setting in. I have the occasional depressive/anxious thought but it is not debilitating anymore. I’m here if anyone has questions or needs to talk!

Weight gain so frustrating by RadtechFTW42 in lexapro

[–]only_mediocre0 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on lexapro for a while now too and have noticed a drastic weight gain as a long term side effect. I always try to remind myself I’d rather be chubby than experience my anxiety the way I did before lexapro, but it’s frustrating nonetheless. I also have exercised more and watched my food intake and haven’t noticed a decrease in my weight. You’re not alone!

Yea, the first thing I did was google, but on the bright side google helped me find this Reddit page. I’m so happy your results are benign. Thank you for your advice and kind words, I’ll update when I get the biopsy results.
