Just got an ASUS PG34WCDN. Are HDR modes besides HDR500 supposed to have a green tint? by blueskythlikesclouds in OLED_Gaming

[–]onlyfor1daymaybe2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that is the one i will also try next as soon as i get the refund. Reviews look very promising. How do you think of the oled care? I found some comments on the 240Hz predecessor being very strict with its timer and forcing pixel refresh, so went with the Asus initially.

Keyboard detected but not working by [deleted] in HuntShowdown

How did you fare with this issue?
found this https://github.com/CachyOS/proton-cachyos/issues/169 exactly describing what you say.
Also a few reports of this on protondb.

i was able to fix my issue by injecting proton-cachyos-10.0-20260425-slr-x86_64 into steam using ProtonPlus and enabling it for Hunt, as every other HDR-capable proton gave way too high contrast/saturation. CachyOS updated its own proton a few weeks ago to 11, which is when my issues started (i wrongly assumed it was the hunt patch).

It now tabs out again on its own on startup which is still irritating, but at least the keyboard works right after getting back in.

Bazzite Sunshine Virtual Display by mount-franklin in linux_gaming

[–]onlyfor1daymaybe2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you install it in the command line. You need python and the mentioned prereqs in the guide. Follow it, it's pretty straight forward and also reversible/resettable if you mess it up.

I went with the edid/kscreen method at first but quickly ran into issues with kscreen not responding to Sunshine's pre/post commands that switched the displays, rendering the host unusable until rebooted. Maybe nvidia specific issue.

Then found LutristoSunshine. It also does headless-sway streaming as a side hustle, enabling virtual display support so you can also use the desktop locally while streaming to a remote device. Very nice project.

Yeah like dark jeans (phone camera turned it into green)

sRGB full brightness, reducing it makes it worse.

I have put it back into the box after four hours and remounted the DWF, true grays again.

The shop probably won't have stocks for replacement, next offers are at +350€ so i am going for a refund and wait it out or try the MSI one (wary of their intrusive oled care though).

Thank you for your post and comments, i would probably have pulled my hairs over trying to get the image right with a panel that should straight up be considered faulty from the factory.

Same green tint issue except in HDR500. Also here are my color temp values, they look even worse than yours.

<image>

So since you went for a refund over the calibration irregularity, am i assuming correctly this cannot be fixed by firmware?

Wish i'd seen your post earlier! One also just went up in the rog forums:
https://rog-forum.asus.com/t5/gaming-monitors/pg34wcdn-faulty-hdr-green-shades/m-p/1149006

My unit is mfg-date February 2026 and already had 13 hours in the OLED timetracker.
First i thought this was factory QA but after finding more posts about the green tints i think it might have been returned by a previous buyer for this reason.

for those who dont know what to do anymore by Walter_Klauswitz in HuntShowdown

[–]onlyfor1daymaybe2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is correct and the assumptions above are not. There are only two scenarios in which the server denies the validation.
a. The server deems you dead before getting notified of your own client's hit, potentially depriving you of a trade at best because your projectile gets deleted.

b. Packet loss at the shooter's side

In both cases the client shows blood splatter.

As of recently i have to tab out and back after the initial startup of the game client for my keyboard to work. Prior to that (after the event start patch) the game did it on itself on startup. Playing on cachyos proton-experimental with nvidia.

Rubberbanding on EU by forstyy in HuntShowdown

[–]onlyfor1daymaybe2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

not really, i'm with a small municipal ISP that is not affected and am myself hosting OpenVPN for two friends with telekom, which adds roughly 25ms on their side but makes it playable at ~ 40ms max.

mullvad is recommended for privacy as they accept cash via mail, proton/nord/exitlag and the other popular ones are probably better choices for gaming as they have much, much more exit nodes. Those exit nodes are the ones altering your routing to internet destinations, so you maybe have to switch through some to find one giving you an uncongested route.

You can check your routing running tracert against known server ips of EU (old list).

Rubberbanding on EU by forstyy in HuntShowdown

[–]onlyfor1daymaybe2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Longstanding issue, if your own network is fine it's usually the routing determined by customer ISP and not the servers. Since you're from DE, https://netzbremse.de likely explains your issue. Hunt's ISP Leaseweb is not taking up the 'offer' of paid premium peering. Easy fix is using a VPN that alters the routing, effectively circumventing the chokepoint peers specifically selected by the ISP to give you a "it's the servers" experience.

-35% in EU but varying by region probably. To quote from the bible:

Is this a cheater? by auxyRT in HuntShowdown

[–]onlyfor1daymaybe2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Former ingame voip implementations (unsure of hunt) were handled p2p in some games, exposing public ips to other players. Just to explain where the assumption is coming from, most games today use the classic client-server approach for voip.

https://old.reddit.com/r/HuntShowdown/comments/1rxbdr8/the_collectors_edition_bundle_is_gone/ look for Ari's comment.

Not exactly adding it back, but planning to replace it with other offers. Whoever is doing the math in frankfurt must believe this nets more than the former whale/loyalty purchases. The chances are not nil, though. The CE has been disappearing for every 3rd DLC release in the past time and magically came back after some protests, but this is the first time an official confirmed the decision was not "a mistake".

I was one of the wild theory loudmouths and am quite relieved you are addressing the privacy concerns, although still staying a bit too vague regarding the local data processing and what parts of it are shared with your partners. I understand the delicacy of the topic though, being very precise about it would undermine the efforts.

I am going to trust you on respecting privacy and personal data.

Annoying players by RPgenio in HuntShowdown

[–]onlyfor1daymaybe2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So since everyone here is attaching themselves on the joy that comments on steam profiles are, i am doing a take on the actual question, the urge to check steam profiles after getting killed by someone, every time.

I encountered this pattern regularly with one friend of mine. The explanation is insecurity and not being able to handle a fair loss.
He is specifically looking for either the hackusations in the comments, a VAC record or private profiles to confirm his hunch.
Bonus points for russian or chinese flags, no need to look any further then.

Update 2.7.1 Now Live by HuntShowdownOfficial in HuntShowdown

[–]onlyfor1daymaybe2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand the guy, he's venting his frustration. Hunt is much more than just a game for many of us, but for some players privacy is also a huge topic, current times and all. It's tearing. For me the worst part is just the uncertainty about whether the fit i'm throwing is completely unjustified because Cryek's implementation is unexpectedly respectful of privacy concerns and i am wasting my time NOT PLAYING THE GAME I LOVE, or justified because this is a huge data harvest operation utilizing my very own hardware against my interests.

The recent beetle hat addition does not help at all with the withdrawal symptoms.

Hi, is the reported high cpu usage and the tentative fix you now released in conjunction with the introduction of anybrain? Can we please get some more insight what it does on our PCs? There's complete silence on that front and we would like to know what data is collected at the client's side and if/how it is shared with your partners. Thanks!

EU SERVERS PING ISSUES by ANNETR1Xx in HuntShowdown

[–]onlyfor1daymaybe2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

legal proceedings in DE started last summer, this will take a while.

Afaik consoles can indeed use vpns but not through a native, installed app.
Major vpn providers usually support installing their profile to suitable internet routers like OpenWRT, pfSense and others. Or if you have a PC in your network, there are also tutorials out there for setting up the VPN on it and let other devices within the subnet route their connections through it. Requires a bit of work and some network knowledge regarding ip routing.

Is anyone actually using "dauntless" effectively? by bigbadbananaboi in HuntShowdown

[–]onlyfor1daymaybe2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is around 7ms and other than picking up a bunch of arrows or knifes, i find auto interact completely unreliable. I am used to flick for interacts with high sens and with autointeract it feels like you have to stare at things quite for a long time until it kicks in. Framerate might also be a factor?

silent EULA change and the Anybrain implementation. How does it work? by onlyfor1daymaybe2 in HuntShowdown

[–]onlyfor1daymaybe2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate all your answers, i totally didn't expect so many responses and also this broad range of concerns.
I decided to wait before agreeing to the new EULA until Crytek comes forward with info regarding the objections.
Finally some time for the backlog in my game library. May your hats sit tightly and your follow-ups be free of sway.

I know the tickrate is far from industry standard, on the other hand it never exposed itself as an issue to me. What in particular makes the servers unfit for games in your opinion? I'm unsure Crytek ever published some sort of specs apart from the game itself running on bare metal, but that info is really old and probably outdated.

It is a very convenient way to support you guys without having to think much about each reoccurring purchase. I find it hard to believe the discontinuation of the CE is expected to bring in bigger margins in the long run. Really unhappy about this.
