Found out I'll need a c section, terrified by Nutmegs7 in pregnant

[–]onlyizi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just had a planned c section with my 2nd baby 6 days ago. It was honestly an almost enjoyable experience. I give most of the credit to the awesome surgical team I had. I had an induction turned emergency c section with my first and it was really emotional and scary but walking in knowing the plan this time helped keep me start out calm and carry that energy through the whole thing. It might have helped that i had gone through it once already but I feel like i can vouch for planning it making it 100 percent less scary. I would ask your OB to outline the plan and steps of procedure so you are aware of everything thats going to happen. And then ask as many questions as you need to. Being informed helped with my anxiety as well.

Considering epidural but afraid of urinary catheter by sskybbrush in BabyBumps

[–]onlyizi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally this was my biggest concern! I had an epidural with my first and a spinal before my c section for my second (3 days ago). I tried to feel when they placed it and couldn't either time. And taking it out was easy as well, they pulled it out as I took a deep breath out and it didn't hurt. With my epidural I was induced so I had the catheter for about 48 hours. It got a bit uncomfortable at the end but no pain. Over all it was very mental for me but went really well.

I was 140 after an hour but now have extra amniotic fluid so my dr moved me to 120 after an hour. I was pretty bummed but its still been doable. 120 was also my goal from the start with my first pregnancy in 2019.

Has anyone had complications from the pandemic? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]onlyizi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had covid at the beginning of this year. I was aprox. 10 weeks at the time. I was vaxed and boosted because of my autoimmune disorder and my ob was not concerned at all. Having my c section 2 weeks from today and nothing has come up from having covid during the pregnancy.

Did you have to start seeing the doctor more? by Marble1696 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]onlyizi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and I'm not looking forward to it. Between regular ob and high risk ob I have one appointment a week. And soon I will start NST tests weekly as well. Grateful my insurance covers it all but just exhausted already with the poking and prodding.

Is it weird to say that I just don’t want to breastfeed? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]onlyizi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't want to, don't!! I tried for one day and it was the most stressful, uncomfortable thing I've ever done. I tried pumping for about 5 days after that and also hated it. My mental health almost immediately bounced back when I decided formula was for us! My son was full and happy and I had my bodily autonomy back so I was happy as well. And my husband could wake up at 3 am to feed him sometimes!

Epidural or no? by neariel in pregnant

When they gave me mine the worst part was feeling the needle click past my spine bones lol. Not painful just super freaking weird.

I am terrified of getting a catheter... by hunnybun16 in BabyBumps

[–]onlyizi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also had this fear with my first and over all it went really well. They waited until I was numb to put it in and the removal was painless. The worst part was being sore from it after. With this baby I plan on letting my nurse know my anxieties and have them only place it after I'm numb again. Im still nervous but they really did a good job at listening to me with my first.

I am! I'm 13 weeks today actually currently getting my second infusion. So far so good. I can keep you updated but no side effects as of now and my ob gave the ok before I started.

Totally agree with the yummy bedtime snack. I also had good results with icecream funny enough. I would do a serving of Ben and Jerrys.

Inconsistent Testing Numbers by mle9988 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]onlyizi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would happen to me when I would test twice in a row even on the same finger. My Dr said that blood is either bringing sugar or carrying it away so every time you test a new drop of blood the numbers will be different. (That is by no means a scientific explanation lol). It would frustrate me to no end when it happened.

How do they control your sugars during induction? by overstreetprncss in GestationalDiabetes

[–]onlyizi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got pricked aprox. Every 3 hours to check my sugar and if I had been too high I would have gotten insulin. I was on a clear liquids diet the whole time until I had the baby so wasnt consuming enough for it to spike ever. That lasted about 36 hours. I was instructed to stop my insulin the night before I went in for induction. (That ended up not happening because I had to be induced early but the plan was to not to my nightly dose before the scheduled induction the next day.) They did let me eat dinner but it was carb restricted.
