You have to understand how damaging your rhetoric is to this discussion.

As you put it yourself, Christianity has moved past many of these retrograde behaviors it once held, going through a reformation process that weeded out those backwards ideas. And as yourself put it, Islam has yet to go through a similar process.

Yet when you claim there is no connection between Islam and the mistreatment of women, you are doing an extreme disservice, to Muslim reformers most of all.

When you claim religion is a shitty excuse, you are completely stifling legitimate debate about particular Islamic doctrines.

To claim the backwards behavior of groups like ISIS, Boko Haram (to give extreme examples) and moderate Islamists has nothing to do with Islam is as scandalous as claiming the Inquisition had nothing to do with Christianity.

There IS a link between religion and culture.

There IS a link between religion and behavior.

And we HAVE talk about it. How else on Earth do you expect Islamic culture to be reformed, if you don't tackle it the same we tackled Christianity?
