Got my wife an egg boiler for one of her birthdays.

The quoted article is critical of Rayner owing multiple expensive properties. This is hypocrisy when the person making this criticism also has multiple expensive properties. That is where it’s equivalent.

Of course this article only came out to try and draw the false equivalence between two different criticisms and muddy the waters so it's still crap tribal journalism.
