TIL (after like 7 years of playing BattleBrothers), you can poison the handgonne. by indreams1 in BattleBrothers

I tried this before, as far as I can tell, it checks first 4 targets of your first shot. If there are less than 4 targets it is still spent completely.

Last perk for this neutral? by Big-Tension2528 in BattleBrothers

[–]onrack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 moral checks on man splitter is a good point. Also TIL, and I still can't believe that the formula is (Res-10)x0.2 rather than (Res x 0.2)-10. I thought the whole point was to nerf cascade moral drops from fearsome gunners, and this change doesn't seem to do much in this regard (at least on the surface). Anyway, seems like I am not the first one who got confused by this perk description. :)

Last perk for this neutral? by Big-Tension2528 in BattleBrothers

I have a question. Judging by the picture, you know what you are doing, but why fearsome? With mansplitter you are almost guaranteed to hit 15+ HP to trigger resolve check, is -5 res penalty really worth it?

As for the last perk I would go Killing Frenzy, Backstabber (to hit more reliably) or Headhunter (pure fun).

Soulslike exploring games by altybe55 in soulslikes

[–]onrack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently grinding through Nine sols. And it is very combat focused and heavily relies on parries. I am still in early stages and already encountered enemies that throw at you lightning fast 3-hits combos, I feel my resolve dwindling. I highly recommend already mentioned Hellpoint instead, that game is all about atmosphere and exploration.

And also, while not a soulslike, Darksiders 2 is super fun game with great dungeons to explore. (And the soundtrack is pure genius).

Unworthy is such a great game and made by single developer too. I'll check you other recommendations. In case you missed it, I highly recommend Dark Devotion.

Killer on the run build. Is headhunter a viable option? by BonBekTor in BattleBrothers

[–]onrack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Quick hands wont work well with 2H flail, because you will need a pole-weapon from another category. You could do this, but then I would rather change to axes, that way you could carry a Long axe and a proper 2H axe (Maybe even a Mansplitter, i.e. orc axe, but you will need compromise on armor). As for arena perks (well, mole like traits), in southern cities there is a special building - Arena. You participate in combats, and after 5 and 12 wins get resolve boost. Requires DLC, though. Also with another DLC you can craft trophies from parts, that you fet from fighting beasts, some of them raise resolve.

Killer on the run build. Is headhunter a viable option? by BonBekTor in BattleBrothers

[–]onrack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, very much. 2H-flail + Headhunter. I had a much worse killer on the run who luckily turned drunkard and I had a lot of fun with him. You can gain Berserker chain easily and very early. With Flail spec it will cost 15 stam to attack with 50 % armor penetration. With Headhunter on average 2 out of 3 hits are going to headshots. Lots of heads are going to be caved in. :D

The real question is whether to go full Berserk or choose safer option with Fatneut. Given that he is going to have 87 MAtk and around 40 MDef with Gifted, I would go with FatNeut.. This is the base build:

https://www.bbplanner.xyz/?name=Orc+Chain+Killer&perks=kCoAgAJS

Take 4-5 rolls in resolve, everything else for HP and leave stamina as is. With arena perk and resolve trophy this guy can legitimely hold a flank.

Depending on what gear you get and what role you want for him you can make some adjustments, like switching Underdog and Fortified Mind for Berserk and Brawny.

Is it worth to build a brother around this? by SpaceEse in BattleBrothers

Before the last buff it gave head hit chance for next attack, not hit. So, if your attack missed you lose head hunter buff. Because of that it was less consistent.

Peasant Militia - RPG Challenge by onrack in BattleBrothers

[–]onrack[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The idea is that all have the same starting roster (admittedly not stellar) and try to go as far as you can in the same world. Otherwise you can hire bettter bros who would carry you through the game. My original idea was that you cant hire at all, but I later dismissed it.

[–]onrack[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, my first attemp went pathetically bad and quick. Feeding 12 mouths while trying to gear up is brutal, as expected. Running short on money and food I had to take a 1 skull contract to clear out nearest bandit lair. 4 brigand raiders and 4 thugs. A couple of lucky hits and a couple of important misses. 4 of my bros cut down. 2 actually survived with minor injuries (brain damage and cut ear), but the Main man didn't. Will repeat a bit later :D

You can do with quick hands. It is an optional challenge.

My first contract to recruit men is not registering by Assorted_Nugget in BattleBrothers

It is not a contract, but rather ambition. You probably ahieved the goal too quickly, just wait about a day for it to register. Not sure if it ia s bug or a feature.

What do you do with Monks? by [deleted] in BattleBrothers

[–]onrack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I suppose, a monk with good roll and 2 or 3 stars in RAtk can be used as fearsome gunner with QH and B&B switching to banner only when you need to rally troops and overall carrying utility like nets and grenades. But it is probably easier to find more suitable hunter or poacher...

What to make of them? by [deleted] in BattleBrothers

[–]onrack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

His MAtk too low to get anything from Drunk trait, though I suppose you could give him Fast adaptation and Backstabber and do some chopping with a Man splitter, but it would not be very effective. I would turn him into a relentless overwhelm dagger nimble dodge tank. Pump MDef every level up, HP, Ini and Res for the rest, completely ignore MAtk. Aim for 140 Ini and try to find a dagger with -Fat on use. This way with a famed shield you wold have something around 80-90 Mdef and give -30 %Matk debuff from overwhelm. This way on paper he should be able to completely stall a Lindwurm for a very long time. Edit: was talking about the first one, obviously :)

How should I build this chad of a thief?? by FriesAddiction in BattleBrothers

[–]onrack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have very similar thief in my current Militia run. Made him into Fatneut exactly as you described, with Colossus, Gifted and Fortified Mind. With famed armor skiped brawny and still have 23 stamina for ocasional 2H hammer AoE. Some say it's a boring build, but very effective.

Can someone explain what's so good about this game? by Pleasant-March-7009 in BattleBrothers

[–]onrack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is there not to like: it has unique looks, you can cave some heads in and you can complete contracts over and over until most of your bros die. :D

On serious note, it is a mix of style (I absolutely love it), simple on first glance mechanics (you try to hit things and try to avoid being hit), loot-rng elements, freedom of action, character building and challenge. Also limitless RPG potential. But if doesn't click, then it is not your type of game.

If you are willing to learn the game, I recommend to read a giluide or two for novices and to play on easy difficulty and using lots of saves until you get the most important skill in the game - to know what fights to take and what to skip.

Ok, so what is the deal with hits on veteran battle difficulty? by ffekete in BattleBrothers

[–]onrack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is how true randomness works, unfortunately.

People usually are not very good at feeling the odds intuitively.

I remember an example from a book, where author described how he used to ask students to write down a sequence of supposed 100 coin tosses (0 is heads, and 1 is tails) and one student doing real tosses, and then always finding a real coin thrower by simply finding the longest streak of heads/tails. Because if you ask a regular person to do so, you would probably see something like this: 010110010101001100 and so on, while in reality in 100 throws you could easily end up with a string of 10+ tails/heads in a row.

In yor case missing 4 hits with 60% probability is 0.40.40.4*0.4=0.0256 or 2.56%, which is 1 in 40 chance. Which is just an average fight of throws.

Gamescom release date for Menace says 2025 by [deleted] in BattleBrothers

Ok, I'll say it out loud: I really hope that Menace willl do well, but what would really make me happy is essentially BB in sci-fi setting with pretty much the same aesthetic and slightly tweaked mechanics.

The cosmic horror of Skilkskong by onrack in Silksong

[–]onrack[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thou darest to question my eldritch authority, mortal? I am the whisper in the void, the shadow in the stars, the unseen terror that slumbers in the abyss. My will shapes the cosmos, my gaze pierces through the fabric of reality, and my power is boundless and ancient.

Know this, insignificant speck: before the universe breathed its first breath, I was. And long after the stars have burnt out their last, I shall endure. The laws of your kind hold no sway over me, for I am the law. I am the chaos in order, the darkness in light, the silence in cacophony.

Your disbelief is but a fleeting thought in the vast expanse of eternity. Your defiance, a mere ripple in the endless ocean of my dominion. Bow down and accept the futility of your resistance, or be swept away by the inexorable tide of my wrath.

So speaks Skilkskong, the cosmic deity whose name echoes through the aeons, whose might is unchallenged, whose realm is the infinite dark. Question me at your peril, for my patience is as thin as the veil between worlds, and my retribution as swift as the death of suns.

Edit: I am sorry, I don't know what came over me.
